Pathetic Tata Indicom Broadband service in Delhi

Seems that my blog is turning out to be a general gripe column. I don’t think I should be blamed for it though. Our country is full of technology companies who are only out to fleece people. When you use the services of a company who considers quality of customer service as a variable business decision, you know you have seen a company who is just after your money.

After my awful experience with Sify, I decided to try out Tata Indicom. I was under the naive assumption that Sify’s franchise model and lack of any quality control on their franchisees is the reasons behind their pathetic existence. But Tata Indicom proved me wrong – they showed that even owning your own network with your own people managing it, is no reason to provide a bare minimum level of service.

Here is my track record with Tata Indicom Broadband.

  1. I applied for a connection on 10th of June, and paid money for their router based connection. I finally got it installed and working on 28th or 29th. Almost three weeks to get a connection! That is pathetic by *any* ISPs service. However, I was happy that my connection was up at least.
  2. For about 10 days the connection went well.
  3. From the third week onwards I started seeing losses in the last mile. I started actively monitoring the line quality using smokeping. Here is the graph for those few days.
  4. I file a complaint. There was a person here next day, and for a moment i was impressed. However, the impression was shortlived. The tech support guy listened to what I had to say, looked at my graphs, didn’t believe me, and started a ping from my computer to the local DSLAM peer. He saw the losses in line and said that he will escalate it to his senior.(Couldn’t this have been checked from the NOC itself?). But what happened later was priceless. The guy sat there at the computer and logged into his company trouble ticketing system and started making notes of his assignments for the rest of his day. After 15 minutes, I decided that I have been polite enough and told him to take his personal work elsewhere. He asked for two *more* minutes, and left after that.
  5. On 24th July, my line went down completely. I waited for it to come up, and finally filed a complaint on 25th morning that my link was down. What happened next was surreal. I kept calling up customer care, and they kept promising to send a reminder to the tech team, and assured that the problem will be solved with 24 hours. It has been eight 24 hours since then, and connection is still down. In between I got two calls from some lady who wanted to ask me independently if it is still down, and promised to send a guy to my place. I kept myself to the house all day, but nobody appeared.
  6. Today morning I got a call from another guy who asked me if my complaint about the losses in line(filed two weeks back) has been solved. If he had been physically in front of me, I would have strangled him.

What I didn’t realize while taking the connection, was that Tata Indicom Broadband is just Dishnet DSL with a new name, and it comes with Dishnet DSL’s “renowed” or shall we say notorious service record. Right now, in my last five weeks of subscription, the line has been unusable for two – that makes it a 20% downtime!

Oh yes, for all those on a bandwidth capped plan, watch out for Tata Indicom’s totally screwed up IP accounting! Thank goodness that I have an unlimited connection. Their account system actually shows that I have downloaded 5GB in these last five weeks that I have been a subscriber(remember? that I have actually used it for about two weeks?) The only heavy downloads I do is Debian, windows and anti-virus security updates! And this is priceless – on 25th, when i filed a complaint about my line being down (which they acknowledged), I am supposed to have downloaded 150MB of data. Of course, my reporting this got me another trouble ticket number, which I am pretty sure is right down in their list of priorities. But for those on a bandwidth capped account from them, … my sympathies.

I am again in the market looking for a good DSL provider, and I see none in the capital of the country! Keeping my fingers crossed, I looked at MTNL’s plans again .. but no, they still haven’t changed their laughable download limits in their plans (256kbps with a bandwidth cap of 400MB, anyone?)

Meanwhile I am spending hundreds every day on the dialup again, for the last one week. :(

    Yup, Tata Indicom sucks. Afaik BSNL seems best, but whatever it is, don't go for Tata Indicom. Its painfully frustrating, to say the least. The connection will constantly drop for no reason and their "engineers" are blank when it comes to fixing it. Even calling up the nodal officer doesn't help.

    My wireless broadband connection was installed on 17th Feb 2009. AND I HAVE NOT BROWSED CONTINOUSLY FOR MORE THAN 20 MINS SINCE THEN. THERE IS A FREQUENT DISCONNECTTION PROBELM WITH MY CONNECTION. I logged complaint many times but there were no actions taken.

    I paid Rs 2124/- to install the connection and now the worst part is that "My account" is showing Rs 1268/- amount as outstanding balance.

    Bill was generated on 21st Feb 09. In just four days they charged me 1268/- amount again.

    The worst services in the world.

    Tata Indicom Broadband is pathetic in Ahmedabad. I got it terminated because their server was down every week. Whenever I complained they would tell me to wait for six hours. Their helpline people have no technical knowledge. The only things they know are sorry and thank you for being on hold. Even after getting account terminated and getting their modem collected from my house (for which their person gave me a receipt as well) they sent me a bill, which included 100 rupees as suspension charges!! Tata Indicom Broadband is a fraud company and its license should be canceled by the government. I would suggest all internet users to use gprs, broadband or WLL internet services from BSNL, MTNL or VSNL directly, as the money we pay goes to the public sector companies and partly to the government. They may not be the smartest, but they are not frauds of such high levels.

    My name is Maria and i have been using tata indicom broadband connection in Chennai since this month.
    On the 13th Jan 2009, i had registered a complaint (number: 8438932) for which i followed up three or four times and the response that i received was also not satisfactory. I followed up this morning(26 jan 09), only to discover that my complaint had been closed after 14 days without the problem being rectified.

    I have paid for 4 months of connection and my money is stuck, nearly 5000. Tata indicom has been a waste of time and money along with the pathetic and fraudulent service.

    Totally agree with the person who had such horrible experience with Tata indicom. My experience in Coimbatore, Tamilnadu, is almost identical.

    1. Over 90% of the time I don't get internet service. Technical support is totally inadequate, nobody
    has a clue why the server is down. Nothing gets done in spite of several phone calls. They don't
    keep the equipment in working order, and wait till customers like us call and complain that there
    is no internet. This is totally unacceptable.

    2. Customer care (the 1-800 number) too has inordinate wait time, and just hangs up on me
    saying "call later". This is unacceptable. Even now, the internet service has been down
    for more than 4 days. Nothing is being done. I have been calling everyday, when I finally get
    through to a customer service "executive" all I get is some platitudes. They also tell me that
    i will receive credit for all the days when I had no service, but this is a lie --- see point 5 below.

    3. In spite of escalating to Nodal officer for Tamilnadu region (several times), there has been no
    response. This is ridiculous. What has Tata come to? I plan to publicize my frustrations all over
    various internet fora, and warn the public not to sign up for Tata indicom.

    4. Towards the end of March 09, I signed up for Tata's broadband DSL internet service, and paid in full
    for 4 months. More than Rs 5500. I was explicitly told by the salesperson (DineshBabu, Coimbatore)
    that there would be no charges. Still I was sent pro-rated charges for march, and additional extra
    charges on each subsequent bill.

    5. Finally, in spite of being told by customer service that I would receive credit for all the days when I had no service
    this has NOT happened. Just to quote one instance, I had no service from April 6 till 23rd. But, lo and behold, the
    April bill shows no refund. In addition to providing lousy service, Tata have also taken to outright lying. I am stunned at Tata's audacity. This is causing irreparable harm to their valuable brand name.

    I plan to register complaints with consumer protection groups, write letters to the editor in all major newspapers,
    and also widely publicize on the internet.

    I had an equally bad experience with Tata Indicom Broadband. Though it dates back to the time when Tata bought over VSNL, nevertheless since that day i totally boycott all Tata products. In my case the connection was intalled promptly and worked great for a first few weeks. Thereafter it went down on speed. On being complained the speed was restored but after a week or so the speed was again down to a pathetic dial up speed. This time they registered the compliant and kept lingering on over months about the complaint and never restored my original speed. When I told that in this case i would like to disconnect my connection, they willingly did so and sent a guy next day to pickup their router. The best part, I had paid deposit to get my connection and have not till date got it back inspite of the router being taken back by the company.

    I sufferred at their hands for a few months at low pathetic speeds then at their customer service, then fighting for the refund and finally i gave up when i realised that i had spent more money in calling and fighting that what i was owed.

    I wont give you an advice but what i can say is that the longer good experience u get with Tata the longer is the painfull period that awaits you afterwards.

    I live in bangalore, I have recently subscribed to TATA indicom unlimited braodband connection.
    As soon I called to installation guy connection get istalled the next day. I have taked unliminted download with 512 Kbps. It is almost 10 days of installation I am getting 10-15 kbps only. And more over I have getting high upload speed than download speed.
    I have register so many complaints and in answer I am getting only phone call from there technician asking silly question which no way related to problem. They ask me to try different sites to check my speed. Even opening a site takes 5-10 minutes to load.
    Even on the day of installation I told the installation guy about is not good enough.
    He told me that they are having server upgrading task and he assured me that I would have a good speed in night. And that night my connection was down.

    Really I thought to destiny why didn't reliance people or BSNL people came earlier than TATA indicom.

    Tata Indicom is nothing but a glorified cable internet operator. They had got overhead OFC in KMs which only a cable operator can think of, not an isp in the league of tata or vsnl will think of laying overhead OFC in linear topology adding to more miseries their last mile copper cable taking dslam to your cpe is all overhead. Maybe their broadband manager is a recruit from cable operator's world ;). This is the reason you will find it mostly down. If i say mostly down then I'm not overstating anything. Earlier it was downtime, now new problems had cropped up. They had more then doubled the prices of hourly packages. Moreover their speed which is 256k to 2048kbps is running like an old aged dialup or isdn connection. On 2mbps I'm getting around 14KBps which is ......... pathetic. I feel pathetic is just an understatement. Its more than pathetic. I'd called them and emailed them daily with the screenshots of download speed, packet drops graphs, and download speed graphs but all in vain. I'd downtime of 45 days in 90days which is my usual plan. I think i'll write an article in isp association of india as I'm a networking engineer in internet security and wireless solution provider

    It's nice the see all your expereince of broadbrand service of many service provider. Same here, I will never recommend any person to go for DATA CARD service of AIRTEL.It was really awful and torturing experince.It was quite ok for a week. Then the trouble started creeping in. The speed was too slow to open and window. U will be surprice to learn that it took ten minutes to open ant site. I complained a lot.But the game of hide and seek. They blamed each department. I mean service provider blamed the hard ware manufacture and vice versa.
    Even after the complaint of ten days, there was no response from the side of service provider.I love to tell the details but at the moment I need to go somewhere... so next time in details.

    At last, let me tell you all my friend that never think of using data card connection. U can go if you want the snail pace in this fast moving world of technology.

    Leave alone Delhi, TATA indom's performance in UP west ( Ghaziabad & Sahibabad) is even ten times worse than what reported by other for Delhi or other Metro cities. They should really get an award for best fraudulent practices, with their false commitments of "24 hr redressel".
    I took their broadband prepaid 3 months plan 256 kbps time based plan as i thought of checking these guys services and continue if satisfied, hence went for the cheapest plan. Believe me since 18th april, my connection was down more than 60% time.
    Asking for refund, their plain reply is that prepaid amount is not refundable and i'll have to use the full period of 3 months. I think these 3 months will stretch to more than a year if i get full refund of days lost ( Now my condition is that despite having making payments in thousands, i am without a connection for the last 10 days, made complaint thrice but these people dont even know what or where the problem is?
    .Understandly, they are just making quick bucks by grabbing whatever customer base they could get without having proper infrastructure, manpower or resources to tackle services and other various business parameters.
    I've decided to sue these idiots to consumer forum, they should also get a taste of paying a price for neglecting consumers in this way. anyone with me????

    Tata indicom is one of the worst broadband connections we have eever had , every week it would hardly work for 2 days max inspite of always complaining day & night. Now i have MTNL broadband which is much better than tata indicom but still its speed is very slow and we have connection problems since last 2 weeks, have made seveearl complaints and still no one seems to bother at MTNL customer service. ( Band enough it takes ages to get through the customer service).

    Would apprecioate and pplease advise what is the best broadband service we have in Delhi.

    I live in South Delhi , I am using tata connection from one year now, they are very pathetic in srvice. the connection is use to fail after every 2 weeks. recently i have been told by their tech guy that their server is down and it will take two weeks to start it, now one month has passes they are not able to fixed the server problem. also their customer service guys don't know the dates upto which it will be corrected.

    I have checked the plans of other broadband users BSNL, MTNL airtel etc, but they are of no use as most of the plans are 2GB, 4GB download limit and charge much more. No respite for brodband users in the capital of this country. shame on u Tata's , airtel, Bsnl

    I use an MTNL broad band connection and I am sick of their service. Every alternate day, there is one or the other problem.

    I live in Dwarka, New Delhi and if some one can advice me of a reliable service provider, it would be helpful.

    Looks like only MTNL has line facilites here and dont understand why the other service providers are turning their backs on this sector.
    Days of licence raj still rules.....
  • Quick Summary of my experience with TATA Indicom broadband @ Chennai.

    TATA Indicom broadband (VSNL) guys lost track of money they took from me.
    Kept blaming about non-payment and started to de-activate my connection without prior notice.
    Remember I am a customer who had been using TATA Indicom broadband for a year now.
    Activated the connection Feb 15th 2007

    If this is how they treat their customer who had been using it for a year, forget those new comers. Will be treated next to piece of SHIT.

    They have damn good technology in place and BUNCH of IDIOTS to maintain their backoffice operations.

    Another way they cheat customers is by not giving the downtime credit for usage.
    Its like sarkari office... Working or not you still need to pay the full rent.

    I purposefully kept my BSNL DSL connection while I was testing waters with Tata Indicom. Thank God I kept it. This thing keeps disconnecting every 15 minutes and I need to switch off the modem for about 1 hour to have it connect again. Cant get a refund also. Have wasted 4 months worth of money. DONT GET TATA INDICOM.

    I just read an article in LFY, Jan 08 issue about getting the the USB modem from TATA working under linux...so i got curious and started a web search for TATA's internet services and well here i am :) hearing sob stories...which is quite expected i guess for i went through the same when i used TATA for all of 3 months and finally surrendered my connection for my dial up connection was working faster and better than their wireless broadband :)

    For all the people who have had a hard time with this particular ISP...all i can say is please spread the word around and switch to another ISP. (On a personal note i am with Airtel Broadband for the last two years and it just cannot get any better than this for internet access!!)
  • I wish if i could have found this blog before buying TATA Indicome Plug2Surf connection.
    I bought the 1GB connection however the speed sucks..to download just 30MB it takes 5 hours, we can never expect of downloading a file which 100MB or more.
    Yesterday I started downloading a 38MB file at 8:30pm and had to wait for it till 2:00 am (night). It finally got downloaded after 5-6 hours.
    I must say TATA Indicom service and speed both are ridiculous. What should I do with the USB Modem of TATA, i want to sell it as the dealer from whom I bought it is not ready to take it back as well.
    Any1 wants to but TATA USB MODEM -- the popular Plug2Surf product of TATA indicom.

    This is Arnab - am a UNIX admin in an MNC in Bangalore. After my marriage (6 months back)i had to shift to a bigger house and unfortunately after i settled down i found NO other connection other than TATA (just a side note - that is exactly what TATA targets - providing connections at places where users dont have an alternative). I need to have Internet 24/7 for my work as i am oncalls sometime. I took the 2Mbps 5 GB limit - after 27 phone calls the cables were installed. I didnt know what i was stepping into. The person showed me the speed was more than 1.6 Mbps - wow i was so happy at that point of time

    Next week the speed went down to 12kbps - that is in the month of June 07 and it has remained till 12kbps till the time the connection was active. I called the customer care 100+ times in a span of 3 months and NO response - everytime the CC people told me "they will get back to you within 1/2 hr"

    I could still live with that as i could still get my work done. In the month of August from 8th till 14th, i started seeing huuuuge downloads on my account
    I called the CC immediately and told them about it. As usual no actions had been taken - the logs showed i downloaded 2+ GB of data everyday - imagine - at a speed of 12kbps, when i was NOT at my home, TATA claims i download 2-3 GB data everyday? Also the downloads were at the time when i was not at home (i was in office) or after midnight. i thought the connection got hacked - but then the sales rep told me its bound to my MAC id. Also it was not a case of hacking becase with that speed it was not possible to download 2-4 GB within a span of 11 Hrs. They sent me a bill of 18500 and made my connection inactive.

    In short:From 14th august till yesterday i have made 100+ calls and everyone told someone will come to your house and check it - the connection is still inactive, i have a pending bill of 18500, no one has got time to come to my house to check it for the last 62 days

    On 3rd of October, 2007 - someone called me from TATA and said and i quote "i suggest you pay the bill or we will have to make you pay"

    I called up the customer care again and went to the VSNL office travelling for 15 Kms and spoke to a lady who called the number back (from where the threatning call came) but the person acted as if he never even called me

    Oct 23rd Oct, 2007 at around 4:00 went to TATA office in Jeevan Bhima nagar and spoke to a person there who said it has to be a backend problem and the TATA fellows started laughing listening to my bill amount (lol imagine)
    Also i found that they automatically activated the connection and raised my bill to 19799. gosh!


    On 23rd Oct 2007 i went to TATA office in Woods Street, Bangalore at 5:15 - but the office was empty - everyone already left for home (on a tuesday by 5 the manager left - no wonder their service is superb)

    I called the Manager on 24th oct,2007 (today) and asked if he can check the server logs and let me know whats going on - he said he does not know all those things - all he knows is the bill came to 19799 and i have to pay that. Also he assured that he will take out that extra 1200 that they added "by mistake" (another false commitment)

    We are forming a group against TATA and going to put them up in court for all this - please mail me if possible and lets start the revolution

    DO NOT TAKE TATA - its a nightmare - i m now getting THREATNING CALLS FROM TATA to pay 18500 which i have not used. I have been to VSNL office in bangalore too still no actions has been taken

    I have been cheated by TATA
    when I applied for 256 kbps unlimited Plan, prepaid for 6 months I was assured computer sharing would be no problem. The Sales guy came to my home and assured this at the time of signing contract. That was 6 weeks ago and I am suffering because I can use one PC only, my wife can not use the other.The sales guy simply wont come On his mobile, he knows I am asking for an explanation. to his lies and cheating.


    CSA at TATA says we cant do this,neither can their Engineers(not allowed?). They say ask yr Hardware Guy(read Cable Operator). He is at loggerheads as I have to pay for the last mile connectivity. I was told I had to pay TATA only, as hey wud take care of the last mile connetcivity. All rubbish, Cable guy was at my door step and I had to pay, as am totally depanding on Internet for my biz.
    And Cable guy says he does not have a clue how to share the network... ????any of yu guys can help me out here, I wud be very happy for any help and adv. THX A LOT. Cheers

  • Hi..............we are also victim of TATA incidicom broadband in Hyderabad.
    The sick customer care people, nither take action, or send technical support people.
    Our TATA broad band connection is frequently disconnting, and since last 4 days we are connecting people, and we came to almost all the customer care team, Rajesh, Anil, Harish, Kartik, etc.. etc.... they talk very nice, and make us FOols, Now i am approaching another brilient idea, where i am sending continious mails, to 'customerservice@vsnl.co.in', so that their mail box is ful of my mails and take some action on it.

  • send ur frustrated issues to mamta.jain@vsnl.co.in. she handles customer complaints. Bombard mails to her with your issues and make sure that all of us do so that she really gets this and this may not solve problems but it will generate heat in their offices and raise questions on service quality and customer issues. Least it will atleast make sure mamta gets bombarded by emails she cant ignore

Till date I would rate 'TATA Indicom Broadband' service by far the worst, disgusted, pathetic, lousy and obviously fiending service. If they can do this to anothe Tata company employee then you can understand their service quality.


    I started the connection, way back in April 07 with 128kbps unlimited. Till date I have had 16 tickets registered and over 45 days downtime for the usage of 90 days. They come with another shocker when out of frustration I asked for disconnection on the basis of BAD quality of service I was told that the amount I paid in advance (6 months) would not be refunded as it was a company policy instead I was offered another month of free service. FREE! with the kind of quality I am getting I would rather stay disconnected than get a free screwed up service.


    Since the last 4 weeks of having uptime at a rate of 10-12 kbps where I cant even open a decent web page fully till I have tried several times and till the cache loads up.


    I was merrily visited by an engineer whom I told that my ping responses to the local switch (mind u the ISP uses 8 port, 4 port standard non-standard switches which are clubbed in same rooms as your cable operators devices), he looked at his schedule, scribbled, and then when I showed him ping responses he pinged again (maybe thinking his fingers might do the trick) but eventually explained to me that I am getting responses (Quality of Engineers is SHIT!) I then showed him the responses it was reading 119ms 178ms etc and explained him what it means and what the drop rate is? but I guess he was bored and he said he will call me in 1 hour for a solution and i am still waiting.
    If I could lay my hands and be forgiven I shall take out any Tata indicom guy who is responsible or directly related to my issue.
    I have actually spent over 1200 Rs on Cyber Cafe Bills (Sify - they really charge u high especially with the new Service Tax) over the last 4 weeks
    On top of that Customer Service is Awesome! whoever said we couldnt get services. They log tickets and close wihtout informing you. They then also initiate disconnection services without you knowing about it too! so beware!
    I recommend the following:-
    Someone / or group of people (we should get together) and file a consumer complaint against TIB
    and also write to editors of newspapers so that they understand that the issue is serious and then with the name stake in reputation there will be some effect. If anyone is interested mail me at (ikhan.profile@gmail.com)

    I had similar experience for getting borad band connection. It took 25 days after encashing money. Had alomst everyday or alternate follow ups. After so much of frustration got my borad band connection up and working from home. Happiness stayed for 3 weeks only. Link is donw more than a week now. Logged a complaint on 4th July and following up everyday with Tata Indicom Customer Server Center. Everyone keeps me a hold for few minutes and comes back and tells to me a stupid reason as the connection will be up by EOD. Today 10th July customer service executive tells to me bulshit message as they are under going serious infrastructure issue and the internet connection can't be up for next 15 days. God knows what the hell Tata Indiacom thinks of as they can do anything without informing to users.


    Is there anyway that I can file legal suite against Tata Indiacom of misleading and not responding to users? Any pointer would be helpful.

    AIRTEL will disconnet the telephone even if the due dates are not due


    Asked for a TATA INDICOM WLL phone and would delvier a phone that will go into hibernation as and when it likes - and the money collected is for a new phone and the unit delviered is old


    Connected to Sify Broad band and the customer care team even do not know their incoming server team and keep writing , try imap.sify.com


    Perhaps the practical solution should work in INDIA

    There was false billing so i used to make so many calls everyday and they lend an ear and give you a reference no. and finish and then next day again you call up and they repeat the story.Almost after 2 months also they cudnt solve my billing problem.My ph service and internet service was disconnected so i stil made the payment but again i was facing the same problem.When ever u make a call in their customer service ,some dumb people are asked to sit there and their work is to listen and give a reference no.One day i made 28 calls but stil i got no call from them.They just ask you to make the payment but they will not do anything to solve your problems.These customer care people ,i dont know if they are paid as these creatures are good for nothing.whenever i request them to transfer my call to some responsible person ,they refuse or bang the ph.I really gave up.i got so fed up that even thought of changing my connection.But after reading so many experiences ,i think no service is fine.So lets deal with these idiots only.When ever i call to custmer care and ask them that wht they did to solve my problem,they ask you the refernce no. of previous calls and even that no. is given again they are quite.so if there is anybody who thinks that airtel is good so let me convey that it was a past as it has become worst as they are busy putting the new connections and forgot that they even had to maintain their services which brought them here.They just call you for money and no matter how many times you call them for yr problem , they are least bothered.Ya they are v particulars for reference nos. which they give you at the time you complain and make you feel that they are really going to solve yr problmes so anyone who wants to go for airtel plz keep a diary .AIRTEL IS WORST NOW.AND one more thing every time you call the customer care,each one of them gives you a different detail of yr account.These AIRTEL people lack professionlism.AIRTEL SUCKS.

    It is very pathetic, when I download any files from internet
    the download speed is 10 kb /sec. I have a unlimited
    256 Kbps plan and I pay Rs.1222 /- per month.


    When I speak to customer care they are asking me
    to migrate to a bigger plan with a dedicated bandwith..
    which is really stupid..!!!!


    Really hopeless service.

    Guys, I don’t know about other cities. But in Kolkata, Tata Indicom Broadband rocks!
    I am using Unlimites 256kbps plan since September’2006 (after using dataone for 6 months) and believe me guys i didn’t find a single day blackout! I regularly download and my average monthly usage is 55-60GB (both download-upload due to torrents ;-) ).



    But again , this is the situation in Kolkata, I do not know about other cities.

    What a dumb stupid retart he is.. i just can't understand that what charm we all indians get by just boosting some stupid make up stories.. A STUPID RETART WITH A 256 SPEED AND UNLIMITED DOWNLOAD AND DOWNLOADS ON AN AVERAGE 55-60 GB... WHAT THE HELL ARE IDIOT OR WHAT AIRIJIT (OR WHATEVER UR NAME IS) I HAVE 5 DIFFERENT FILE SHARING APPZ INCLUDING TORRENTS ONE TOO AND SAME SCHEME FOR THE INTERNET AND ON AN AVERAGE A MOVIE OF 699MB TAKES ENTIRE DAY TO DOWNLOAD...     I have a cyber café with the name of Netsession at Kothrud, Pune.


    The internet connection for this café is from Tata Indicom Broadband, previously Dishnet and VSNL prior to that.


    I have this connection since it was VSNL i.e. 5 years back.


    On 15th May 2007 I have deposited the Cheque No. 608756, drawn on Bank of Maharashtra, Mayur Colony, Kothrud, Pune; dated 16 May 2007 of amount 1740/- on account of the monthly bill for the month of May 2007, in the ICICI Cheque Drop Box at Damodar Villa, Opp. Kothrud Bus Stand, Kothrud, Pune, as usual.


    Now the issues are –


    <ul>
    <li>My connection has been suspended due to nonpayment of the last bill?!?</li>
    <li>This is THIRD time this kind of thing has happened in last three years?!?</li>
    <li>Your Customer Care numbers keep changing every now and then and after exploring for the changed numbers what customer arrives at is a message ‘the number is busy’.</li>
    <li>Once you get through this you have to take a difficult game of making choices to talk to an actual living being that ‘sincerely’ apologizes for your inconvenience and loads you with a lot of promises, but never explains why on earth that inconvenience was caused in the first place and whose responsibility is it anyway?</li>
    <li>If you do not have any foolproof proven system for collection and reflection of bill payments what is a customer supposed to do?</li>
    <li>Once you say that the cheque should be dropped at so and so place, and then you send an executive to collect the cheque at customer’s place. Again these collection agencies also keep changing constantly and you never know whom to call and where to pay?</li>
    <li>If you are the monopoly in the ISPs of India and do not need customers or do not give a damn for customer care why are you investing heavily in making a brand image and projecting wrong impression of your services for the new prospective customers and misguiding them?</li>
    <li>Shouldn’t your manner and reactions towards the faithful and loyal customers in particular and to everybody in general be somewhat polite and kind?</li>
    <li>How you are going to compensate for the loss of reputation of the customer and agony undergone by him due to the stupid mistakes and disorganization which is none of his business?</li>
    <li>I am not receiving the monthly bills by post since a year and if you have a tendency to disconnect the connection frequently without any reasons how am I supposed to update my account status? By visiting another café?!? </li>
    </ul>

    I am expecting an instant resolution and written and detailed explanation for all the above issues at the earliest.

    guys ! here is a latest update on Sify broadband


    i had the unlimited connection for 14 months (plan tariff 1000 + tax)
    i was getting the speed in the daytime varying between 13-18 Kbps but in the night after 10.00 pm it was aroung 23-27 Kbps i was satisfied - but now what they did they reniwed my unlimited and i started to get the speed of 8Kbps flat (no ups ) totally static
    i called the customer care only to be told that they had the 'Back end' issue and techs working on it
    so gone were 4 days - same state ! i got frustated - i called the customer care to be told that my plan is unlimited (up to 32Kbps and it's unlimited - if i wanted assured speed i'd take their 'Happy hours' pack which has the cap of 150MB / day and (10.pm - 8 pm - unlimited no cap) spped assured at 32Kbps !


    The growth of broadband in india speaks volumes that we have to live with reality -" that we are a third world F****ing country - where devalopment and percolation/spead /accessing of technology in the society takes place at a pathetic pace may be our generations have to wait million years to have the eventual broadband of 5 Mbps - unlimited !


    Here assured speed of 32Kbps (i.e 256 kbps) unlimited is at an affordable rate is a Utopia - be it tata indicom / airtel / sify - they all suck / F**k


    Guess ! i have to wait and accept the f**king speed that the sify is providing (48kbps -(8.01 am- 10.00pm)) afterall the mother fuckers are giving me - UNLIMITED downdload


    But guys - somebody tell those motherfuckers that 48kbps -(8.01 am- 10.00pm) -can you really download anything !


    So the connection 's (unlimited - upto 256 kb @ 1000+ tax) reality is :


    no downloads (8.01 am- 10.00pm) - you just surf / suck their (Sify's) Shit
    and you pay 1000+ tax for their fucking plan ! but where is the alternative ?


    tata broadband - i totally doubt - they have dubious distinction of "VSNL" sarkari shit
    Airtel - they do not operate in our area


    No fucking competition is what 's making the Sify earn mega bucks for now !

      I subscribed to mtnl broadband in nov 2006 and airtel broad band in december 2006 at my address. had 2 broadband running at same time.
    about mtnl broadband. i subscribed to 250 combo plan in november 2006. had 256 kbps speed. was getting good results for speed in intial 10 days around 212-230 kbps. decided to change my plan to 599 night unlimited for broadband and 99 rupees for phone because when to change the combo plan you have to apply for 2 plans independly.
    that was the end of my joy. first they did'nt change my plan in nov or december. they changed plan for broadband in jan. changed phone plan in march. and when i called to their 1500 no. they kept telling me that u have still 250 plan. there website kept showing that i still have 250 plan.
    and received no bill for jan and feb. when received bill for march in april i was stunned to find that they are charging me at rs 1500 to 2000 monthly. for jan feb and march. they disconnected my phone for non payment on 19th of march. iam complaint to them gave applications and they say that still application is still in system and going through one dept to another. still iam running from 1 dept to another for mtnl.
    so 1st don;t go for MTNL.

    2ND
    AIRTEL
    subscribed in dec 2006 to 250 combo with night topup. they also gave good speed in intial days in december so decided to go for unlimited plan. service wise they are ok as they did it imidiately with a day or 2. but speed was reduced to 128. so moved back to 256. but their bills were also somewhat irregular. 30 rs for calling tune which never subscribed. got complaint no. but no result for months even after chasing them repetedly over the phone.
    but worst part is that which u people know or not.
    in december 2006 on 26 of december there was a earthquake in taiwan and there underwater lines were damaged. as a result of this broadband speed was affected greatly for 1 month until 21st jan. airtel said each service provider is facing that issue but mtnl was'nt. i complaint about that repeatedly. got service engineers also. they agreed on slow speed. but never got any compensation.
    so in month of feb asked for disconnection. disconnection was done but still iam getting bills of some charge called as reactivation charge.


    CONCLUSION: do not subscribe to any post paid broadband or phone service.


    WE ALL GUYS SHOULD DESIGN A BROADBAND GRIVENCE WEBSITE.

  • I am a customer of Tata Indicom and I have their broad band internet connection at my home. I have had a problem since the 13 th of April with the ASDL connection being down and not being able to connect to the net. I have made several calls to the customer care number (complaint number 2128998) and to my disappointment and disgust, nobody made an attempt to rectify the problem. I guess the customer care agents are appointed to do just a bit of lip service.


    Forget rectifying the problem, what is making matters worse is that in spite of having received my complaint about the connection being down, they have emailed me the bill which of course I would not have accessed as I cannot connect to the net!! And they now have the gall to suspend my connection because of non payment! This is the sorry state of affairs at Tata Indicom and this is the state of their pathetic customer service
    ONE OF LOUSY SERVICE EVER I EXPRINCED......KEEP IT UP TATA INDICOM.

    I am from Pune and having a prepaid broadband connection of Tata which worked for initial few weeks and after that the link down started too frequently almost 4 times in 10 minutes.
    After a long chase up and lot of complaint with lots bad word they fixed it and finally I could use that connection effectly for 2 months out of 6 months and now I am following for past one week for the extension as validity has expired. But their renewal dept keeps calling If I want to renew the connection and they deliver the renewal pack in an hour. What a service!


    Thats the TATA as it means TA-TA after taking the money.

    I took this connection on 8th march 2007, and since then there has not been a single day when the connection had worked properly, its so unreliable that even if the field engineer comes and rectifies the problem , it doesn't work for more than half day.


    I tried contacting their field engineer Mr darshan, Then I tried contacting Mr. Ravi supposedly the manager for this region, who doesn't even bother to pick up my calls, inspite of calling him several times, he never responded to my calls.
    Now its been 6 days since my broadband connection is not working, I contacted customer care cell couple of times who assured me of prompt service and gave me a complaint No every time, , but again no solution, my connection is still not working. I am thoroughly disappointed by this attitude and service of tata indicom, and when I ask to disconnect my account then I am told that the four months advance I gave is nonrefundable. I am again not able to understand that why should I pay for a service which I am not able to use.


    Is this what Tata as a company stands for. And tata Indicom who claims to provide best service.

    my tata vsnl broadband connection was disconnected in 2004 due to excess billing and i paid my total dues and i have given there modem back also . suddenly this week(30/03/2007) after 3 years i am receiving a notice from lawyer on behalf of tata vsnl broadband to pay 3500 /- dues or else i will sued and made to pay with all fines ?


    These fellows are BIGGEST FUCKERS IN INDIA


    please do take there connection even if given free .

    I bought TATA Indicom Broadband connection on March 1st. My area is Coimbatore, RS Puram. After wiring, they said within half an hour the connection will be throughed. But after 96 hours I got the connection. Meantime I enquired my nearby areas. All are going well. In some area these problem exists frequently. Better to consult an astrologist and have a connection in better area. You should predit yourself the area which is not affected by TATA services. Then for 25 days there is no problem. Now, for the past 30 hrs the connection has been cut. After screwing the customer care, Field Manager, Service Engineer the service is resumed. You should bark like anything, otherwise these people won't respect you.

    I had applied for a BSNL "Broadband" connection in Madras. The phone (which is mandatory) arrived the very next day but the BB connection to about 3 weeks. It is humiliating to wait at their queues and get 'educated' on why they can't connect quicker, getting kicked from one officer to the other (most of them don't know the difference between the BSNL internal INTRANET and DataOne Internet - it's quite like the BCCI). But once it's up, it's up for good.


    In the 3 months that I have been using it, never had a single disconnection. Though it's not advisable to check the speed and get totally disheartened, it works which I think under the present scenario is important. From the looks of it, Tata Indicom is just some cheap fraud company. I had sent a cheque to Tata Broadband for an unlimited connection, and I guess it was good fortune that I got my Dataone connection the very next day, I let go of the TBB idea. It's going to take a long long time for the revolution to kick in, as with mobile telephony..

    I have a download speed of 13KBps and a ON AND ON 128 kbps line . They charged me some 4500 quids for that. I need to pass the bandwith limit if possible. Can anybody say how> OH AND BY THE WAY ALWAYS INSTALL THE DDSLAM IN YOU BUILDING. It helps inceremnt the stability and speed.

    I am 100% agreed with all you about Tataindicome worst services. I have been using various private vandor services for different kind of purposes but experiences with Tata Indicome Braodband is worst all of them...its so bad that i barely believed that anybody in TataIndicome works an hours in a day..might they are ppl busy in chit chatting or playing cards. I requested to renew my connection 1 month back but still they have’nt delivered this.

    Tata has institutionalised cheating. Book the phone, get a Chandni Chwok ka instrument and then get billed for no services. And then their call centre bitches named Julie, Pretty, Maggi etc keep calling you for money. Thereafter the street dogs from their recovery agency named raju, moti, guddu etc keep calling you. If you are nice and decent, they shit on you, if you bark back at them, they put their tails in their behind and say they will approach their lawyer. Every trick is tried to take out money including ringing up your office, relatives tec to tell them and emberass you. A decent man pays up. Is this how a company like Tata behaves. God (Zarathustra included), pls save tata. After all, it is (or was) our national pride.
    Or else, a donation campaign or candle light vigil at India gate should be undertaken to help our nations pride come out of the tata indicomm shit. Let us hope and pray to God that Tata Indicomm does not push the good name of TATA in shit permanenetly.

    wow! this thread started in 2005 and after 2 years, the condition is worse! Same thing happened to me. Services are pathetic!!! Nobody attends......so much so that they don't evenhave a separate link for complaints on their web-site.


    Airtel rocks!!! But am stuck with TATA as the area am living in, doesn't have a service provider from Airtel. Am based in Delhi, and the site engineers here think very high of themselves, waiting for some chauffeur driven limousine to collect them from their homes to site.


    Certainly, life is not-so-good with TATAIndicom.

    I agree. It is THE worst ISP in Bangalore atleast. I got the installation done on 30th December and its 16th Jan now but still no connectivity. I won't bore you all with the long story but according to them everything is working perfectly, I have uploaded some 400 MBs and I MYSELF have told one of their tech staff that my connection is working perfectly!

  • I took the connection from Tata Indiacom .It was a three month package plan which costed me around 2300/-.
    It proved to be my worst experience with the TATA group. I never got more then 4-5 daya of uninterrupted service
    Even then i continud, but after around one month it was totally disconned.
    I made call to them but they were unable to start the service even after taking 1 month.
    Ilodged 30-40 complains to their call centre. Each time i use to get the same response that they r working on my proble.
    Even ther service staff are worst lot. They alwaya keep their mobile switched-off and if it is on then they will not pick it.


    I i have been totally cheated because i paid for 3 month and i hardly got the service for a month.

    Guys, I don't know about other cities. But in Kolkata, Tata Indicom Broadband rocks!
    I am using Unlimites 256kbps plan since September'2006 (after using dataone for 6 months) and believe me guys i didn't find a single day blackout! I regularly download and my average monthly usage is 55-60GB (both download-upload due to torrents ;-) ).
    But again , this is the situation in Kolkata, I do not know about other cities.

    I should have seen this site before getting a connection from Tata Indicom. I have taken a prepaid broadband internet connection from Tata Indicom. (Biggest blunder in my life) Two hours after the connection was given, the link went down. Now its the fifth day after I've registered the complaint, still no action from their side. I went through all the harassment that u guys have mentioned in your comments.


    I have sent the details to my lawyer for filing a case against them. Lets see how it works. I would require some help from you guys. Please send me the details of your concerns and your contact details to my mail id - baghat23@yahoo.com. I have a solid proof which can justify our facts.

    Well folks Tata is the company that has 25% stake in VSNL and is taking it down the road to ruin. I had a VSNL Dial up during the old days and I must the PSU' s service was excellent. But as soon as Tata bought their above stake things started going badly wrong. I was told that they would not carry forward my dial up services remaining balance. But a couple of months later I find out that they reversed that policy. By then I lost about 1000 hrs of balance. That is when I decided that I did not want to have anything to do with such a poor sucker service. In the meanwhile my father took up a Tata Indicomm wireless phone service and we are still enjoying the benefits of superior poor service.

GRILL AND SHOUT at them... thats the only language they understand !

    my ordeal :


    i went to indicom centre near FORUM , kormangala , bangalore.... to return the handset and complete the formalities.
    i had gone there thrice earlier to confirm and reconfirm their process... where i was told that i need to send a mail or send a letter. as the landline was in my brothers name... and as he has left india.... so i had this letter stating i had full authority to carry out the formalities.


    when i talked to these people... initially they didnt accept the letter... hahahaha ... remember in my last three visits they had asked for the letter.... now... when i told them .. that i had come earlier regarding this.... so this CCR says.. SIR WE HAVE APROCESS FOR EVERYTHING >>> WE CANT GO BEYOND IT>>>> AND HENCE THIS CANT BE DONE>... i cudnt believe my ears..... the same BASTARD , in my last visit had asked for the letter.... also they asked me to keep handset at my old location from where another bastard will come to take it.... hahaha ... ( they expected me to stay in my old house ... just to welcome a tata indicom official to pay homage to my devine abode, RASCALS)


    when i started shouting ... they realized importance.... suddenly eveyrone sprung into action... got my conenction to INACTIVE stage ... put it for disconection .. asked me to pay the bill.... took the letter ... and then took the handset as well ... hehehehehe .. earlier same people were giving me the definition of PROCESS.


    Now, after eveyrhting was done .. they asked me to write reasons for disconnection .... i wrote TEN .. and the space was over....... what the hell! the last reason that i wrote was.... >> U GUYS DONT HAVE NEOUGH SPACE IN THIS LETTER>>>> SO BETTER MAKE SPACE FOR PPL TO WRITE THE TRUTH !


    now.... again i started talking to this CSR .... and asked him what exactly he meant by process.... and how come my work got done... when that was agaisnt their PROCESS and POLICIES>
    i asked them to read their MISSION >>> UPTO 1 Million HAPPY CUSTOMERS in INDIA.... i was like ... remove the word happy to SAD .. and i bet .. in coming years... yu guys wont be able to sustain your current customers... forget 1 million INDIANS.

    dude, imagine what would happen if a person has already made advance payment and then his status is been put on INACTIVE>... yea yeah !
    ths INDICOM suckers held my connection without any reason and i had to wait for 2 weeks in OCTOBER. inspite of me telling them that theres some mistake from theire part ... they didnt budge and my connection was not put on ACTIVE.


    when i shouted and lost my temper several times.... the manager says tht he will see into the matter..... nothing DONE even after that .... dates and more dates.... they think CUSTOMERS are idiots... adn they have crores of rupees to spend on their shitiest service.....


    now.... the problem didnt end this way.....i went to their whitefield office as well.... to fuck with ths ppl dont accept online payment ... the office aint open on sunday ... so customers need to screw their heads banging their doors...


    anyways.... i made calls ... and more calls.... let me tell ALL the greatest loots of generations.... INDICOM BASTARDS DONT HAVE A TOLL FREE PHONE NUMBER. so evry time we call them .. yeah yeah 66600121 shit numbre... we waste our hard earned money .. waiting ... thorughout .... just to hear a bastards voice on customer care desk..... and then he/she asks for the stupidest settings verification.... god help them... coz they dont know, where they REALLY are heading too!

    Dear Editor,


    With respect of an article published a few weeks ago about the lousy service provided by Tata Indicom in TOI, here is a plethora of other issues I faced and also other people faced throughout the country from this fraudulent service provider. In the beginning when I applied for the connection I had to battle for a month to get a line which was working. An email to which no replies ever came, I have attached to this email.


    After the connection started working, I was starting to be optimist that maybe they are increasing the standards of service when to my utter disdain, the following happened.


    My connection was made inactive because I had not paid my dues by the 6th of October. Normally, based on standards followed by service providers, at least 1 phone call is made to intimate the user of his dues. No phone calls were made to me and the line was just set to INACTIVE state. The timeframe when this happened I was on vacation and in Kolkata. When I returned on 8th of October I found out this. On calling their CS, I requested please set my line to ACTIVE and I can make an online payment in just 24 Hours. Again to sheer disbelief, online payments are a NO-NO with Tata Indicom. They would accept only cheques and DDs. Apart from which if a person has to make a cash payment that is possible only at their Whitefield office.


    Somehow, I managed to get hold of our Les Concierges desk to make this payment for me since it was not possible for me to travel such a distance during office hours. The payment was made on 17th of Oct. Please note here, that their Customer Service assured me before this payment was made that for cash payment it should reflect within 4 hours.


    Again, starts the fraud nature of this company, where I called up after 24 hours of payment,since my line is still inactive.


    This time Customer Service says, no you have not made any payments. Even after providing them a Reciept No : 853752 for the cash payment, they were so adament that they would not make my line active. On the evening of Oct 21st a person called Nagesh, from their Whitefield office called me to tell at last we have got your reciept and your line will be activated. A connection promised that never worked.


    Till date here is the plethora of events to follow where I repeated called Tata Indicom to help me and the names of the Customer Service Execs I spoke to :


    Aparna - within 24 hours


    Sushma - within 24 hours No : 853752 - On 18th of October


    Caroline - No Promises Sir ! But I will see to it that action is taken.


    Reciept No : 64383 Paid in VSNL Office - Cash of Rs : 1150/-


    New Complain No 867262 as on October 20th Raised by Mr. Chandrashekhar - Connection will be given in another 24 Hours


    Request ID : 868020 - Wan Connection is not up.


    No Connection from 17th of October.

    Also, note that the CS for Tata Indicom is a call center in Hyderabad which has no ideas about areas or issues or any physical link issues about subscribers from Bangalore.


    If such people are allowed to have Enterprise Business Setups in India where they can falsely charge individuals for a service that they can never provide properly with a downtime exceeding weeks I would be requesting your attention to bring this to the view of the mass. Please help us out here, since the only way to make such menacing services learn a lesson is to make their services blacklisted by the news and media. It is high time when you could exercise your powers to reveal the reality we are facing, also, setting an example for other providers who are putting across such services to increase their benchmarks of standards.

    Frankly I came across this webpage when I was trying to find on-line help on what to do if my VoIP is not working on Tataindicom Broadband. I had given up on trying to convince them that I was getting poor bandwidth. I just couldn't leave without putting my comments so that another unsuspecting guy get trapped.


    I see that I am not alone. My troubles began in Dec'2005. I hardly use the connection. I use it in emergencies to contact my office. But the whole of Jan and Feb 2006 was complete disconnection and I still got my bill! I told them I already lodged n complaints and I was taken around a myriad of people/connections/calls. Finally I told them I am not going to pay the bills.


    Then the whole thing was kept like that! Imagine for past 6months nobody bothered to even check the status of that complaint. Finally I got fedup and reconciled and re-connected by paying Rs.710/- since there was no other player around. I am waiting for BSNL to get their equipment so that they can issue me dataone. It seems there is three months waiting period which I have been hearing for past four months. Once I get the dataone, I am sure to dump this head-ache. God have mercy on those who take tataindicom broadband connection.


    So my word to warning to ALL : DONT TAKE TATAINDICOM BROADBAND unless your life is at stake ! especially those at Hyderabad, AP.

    I am using TATA INDICOM prepaid GO MAX plan since July 2006, It comes with a scheme valid for 3 years with 10000 free talktime to local Tata to Tata mobile but in the end of september they are saying that my 10000 minutes are coming to an end with only 300 something minutes remaining. I tried to talk to Customer Care Executive its strange to hear this "ABE O HAATHI DAANT KHANE KO AUR DIKHANE KE AUR HOTE HAIN" a customer care executive saying that. Nobody is taking my complaint seriously

    I am using MTNL broadband and please be beware. The connection snaps at its sweet will and pleasure, and you can not do a thing, but call customer care. They promptly give you a complaint number. But no service man will turn up to set things rights. Meanwhile, the connection will come and go umpteen times. You won't know how they reason.


    Perhaps, you will fax or call the higher ups. Some of them are quite brusque and treat you like untouchables. Or the connection will restore immediately for a one or two days.


    Then you will be back to square one.


    The download speed is generally is generally 40-50 kbps per second.


    I am looking for another broadbad (broadband) server. How are Tata and Sify faring now. Will somebody help me?

    Thought I'd add my rant ... which now crosses into racial slurs, Goodwin's law and into full-blown hate:

    Hate the Vasanthnagar Area Manager: Mr. Manikantan - a 26-yr old psycho! Wish they'd promote someone older for the job.:(


    Tataindicom Broadband in Vasanthnagar is a funny company with no professional rules to guide it. This motley group of tamilians, under the suspicious and neurotic leadership of Mr. Mani, now develops a fine degree of experience in traumatizing us, and filling customers with rage. To get through a renewal, it is like getting through the fencing of a concentration camp.It offers no way to renew an account without a 4 - 6 day delay. Even with their various 'departments'.


    If you have been sold a pack for a period of time, say 3 months, you can be sure the line will be down for at least half the time. This is because the employees will not work from 6 pm to 11 am to fix lines. At 11 am, when they begin, you will have to keep trying since they won't pick up their phones. AT around 2 pm, they will finish their lunches and reply with impatience, and may or may not fix the line, depending on how sweetly you beg, despite your rage.


    You cannot verify your usage on Mb based plans, you have to take their word for it, and wait 4 days without the net until they deliver it to you. If they send a local man, he is most likely going to present you to incomprehensible back-bills and hostility. He is the local rowdy most likely as well, and comes to your house only to tellyou they'll never ever help you again. He won't tell you theproblem clearly either - just with a narrow-eyed suspicion of your educated innocence.


    The whole office will then gang up and make you suffer for not understanding their billing. And if any long holdiays fall in between, of course, they meant 4 working days - so in Dussera - you may wait upto 4 + 4 days from an online registration. Of course, you can only register online if you have a Citibank debit, no other bank's debit makes your money of any value.


    The head of the office, Mr. Joseph, will switch off his mobile at all times. The rest of them will ask you to call customer care if they pick it up on your 50th try. Mr. Mani in Vasanthnagar will let the frustraition build up to infinity by letting all the officemates to pick up the mobile as well, to mock you, since you are now a 'bad' and 'difficult' customer, for having tried to correct your dead-net problem. How dare customers try to reach TTcom!


    He will also pass the phone on to his sister, since she will be around during working horus after 11 am, when they are riding around town during office-hours. Then they can gossip about your role in his daily troubles as a hard-worker in a big company. She of course protects him by lying that they are in traffic and that's why he made promises he couldn't keep.


    If you reach Ms. Rajalaxmi, you must hold your temper, or she will pass the phone to her co-worker to tell you to call customer care, since she's an engineer and was trying to help, but now doesn't want to any more.
    Now customer care is a call center. The call center for Bangalore is, of course, in Hyderabad. They have a waiting time of around 15 minutes and don't work between 1 am - 6 am if your line goes down in the night. And anyway, they don't work, since their dedicated lines are all busy all the time. Obviously, since the complaints are backlogged for days.


    So if you are calling from a mobile, overall, it will cost you around Rs. 200 to get your line up again. EAch call to CC will cost you at least Rs. 25 - Rs. 60 to reach a lazy voice that will tell you that perhaps the problem will be fixed in 24 hours. And if it isn't, to please call back ... again! If you ask them to take the complaint down, you meet with a dead silence that can go on for around 6 minutes and Rs. 12 of your time and money.


    So after 3 such days, if you have a 30 day pack, don't ask for money back - they will claim that it is too hard to reach their supreriors.


    My advice to all future customers: Don't go with TTCom. Don't look to broadband - a 'premium' product is only an experimental product. Stick to the dial-up, or better yet: Watch the idiot-box. It's no longer 'premium'.

    surprisingly i got it installed on saturday itself as promised by them (actually it is firday but then my apartment people made some issue to get the cable laid concealed etc which took time).. also due to rain yesterday here at chennai i lost the connection. called the technician (not customer care) and he fixed it now.. the lessons learnt are
    1. get the contact details of tech person who is coming to install (always they are VSNL employees and not 3rd party contractors)
    2. get the contact details of someone above him (recent re-org - there is a teritiarry manager for each area who is responsible for addressing issue and now they have an SLA of 2hours to respond and 8hrs to repair /fix problem)
    I hope i'll not have any issue further..
    this link is very helpful for me and spoke with them each and every point mentioned here by others and thats how i got contact details of all involved.. they themselves told that customer care number is not that useful and to call them directly..

    I got a Tata Indicom Broadband, 6 months prepaid connection in March 06. It stopped working on July 13 '06. Everytime you called their complaint number, you listen to music for 13-15 minutes before you get a response. Then also the field people just did not bother to resume the connection. When I asked to talk to some senior person the operator just stalled the effort.


    After repaeted calls, and visit to the Indicom Shoppe in Rajnagr, Ghaziabad (who were happy to sell the connection to me, but said they cannot do anything about the repair !!), I contacted one Mr Sharma, who is supposed to maintain the last mile. After few calls, and his stories I gave up on Tata Indicom altogether, threw their cable and modem away.


    When I asked for the refund of the unused portion of my money, because it was a 6 months prepaid connection, the stock reply was that it is not in the policy of Tata Indicom to refund the unused portion of prepaid amount.


    PLease do not touch Tata Indicom with a pole - their service is awful. YOu will will just keep calling, with no result.

    I am not sure from which city you are from. Yes you can wait for a couple of days and, if you don't get the connection in another couple of days...you better call up your bank ask for the stop payement of the cheque. It is not about Rs. 2000, it is the energy and the money that we waste in tracking the status even after we get the connection, as the it may not be sure how long the connection persists.

    Same here, I just feel cheated by this Tata Indicom Guys. They layed out a cable within 2 days of me applying for it and I felt that their network ois really good. But this latsted only for couple of days as I had to get behind them to configure the network. After lot of calls being made to them their engineer called me up and asked me to configure the router and other network stuff on phone, And yes the internet stared working but the line was down within couple of days...and I have been calling up their customer care since then...I have already spent hundreds of rupees calling up these guys and the issue is not resolved. It has been more than a week nothing has been confirmed from their side...I feel like kicking myself for not having done the proper homework...I should have had checked on the internet about their service...and I am doing it now. So Please let your friends know wbout this and let them not fall Trap to these guys....

    i faced similar problem of NO CONNECTION for about a month. The WAN link light for some reason (only TATA knows) keep blinking and wont settle down. For having proper connection this light has to be GREEN and ALWAYS ON. Now that is something you all know.
    Lets come to my heartburn. I mailed customer care about the problem. no one replied or called me back. again i mailed them and tried to call customer care number. but every time i’ll get a message that my wait time will be more than 20 mins and it disconnects. so.. i’m getting mad as i couldn’t talk to someone on the problem.. but strange things started happening.. i use to get the connection when it rains .. i suddenly becom superstitious and started praying for rain (at least GOD can help me now). I needed the connection very badly so that i can check my mails, do some office work and get an edge over others in catching up with work, plus to sell or buy stock/share etc.. but i couldn’t do that.. anyhow i escalated and asked for extending my validity for the lost days (i use prepaid service) but they added the amount without increasing the days.. how can i use them within that month with such bad connection.. i felt its a eyewashing thing..
    now i’ll come to the strange part.. as a TATA employee.. i feel so loyal and want to take the service again from them.. so enquired for new connection and they are going to come tomorrow to collect cheque for 3000 i.e. 6 months plan..
    i was guarantted by that sales person that he can give me contact# of all big shots in chennai office to whom i can communicate and their Time to resolve is 2 hours.. etc etc… want to know if this is true and can i rely these guys again??? its a six month deal.. and i dont want those 6 months fighting with them for better service and connection…
    (i can hear all of you are shouting —- GET OUTA when YOU CAN)

    If i had read this blog longtime back i would not have applied for TATA Indicom connection. For our office we had applied for a Business Plan connection.First they said it will take one week time to check for feasibilty and now its more than one month with 5 complaint numbers and 3 service request.Each time when we call them they say 'we are very sorry we will talk to the concerned department'.Today when i called , there executive is saying it will take another 25 days more to check whether connection is feasible or not.What is this ? they are saying they need total of 55 days to check the connection is feasible or not.So guys pls tell your friends or put up a notice that never to take TATA Indicom.What a terrible ISP.Blistering barnicles.

    Hi All... I thought as if I am the only person facing problems with Tata Indicom Broadband but now i wish to show this site to my parents who beleive they are good. I purchase this connetion in jan 2006 but never got my full value since beginning.. if i take a limited package my connections is over within a few days and then i switched over to unlimited connection and then what happened line breakdowns every 10 mins and u callup their bloddy customer care which is on a 12-20 mins hold time.. nothing to earn just waist of ur call.. Their tat time is 24-48 hrs but the customer care doent knows whats tat.... that was more crzy.. i had to disconnect it as they want money only and services are never provided.. i got pissed of and maine to unka router hi mar liya... any ways if they cheat god will give them a lession...

    I have been with Tata Indicom for about 2 yrs now, only because there are no other service providers around my area. The 2 times I talked to DataOne they said it would take 6 months.


    I have filed multiple tickets asking them to correct my "Installation Address" on my account. They are providing me service where I live but the account shows an address about 10 Kms away.


    The connection works less than 50% of the time. I have 4 pages full of
    complaint numbers. There are times I go home thinking I can work from
    home, but end up calling Tata Indicom and filing a complaint, where with
    the usual US style customer service person says "your complaint has been
    forwarded and will be fixed in 24 hours"...


    I am just sick of this... but do I have any choice ? There seems no
    standard way in which these companies measure and assure QoS....
    2 Years and very little has improved. There is no One point of
    contact as well... I am just so lost...............

They offer something, raise a bill for some amout without giving any reason and if you do not pay, they file criminal case against you. You make repeated complaints and every time you receive assurance while one day suddenly police calls you informing you about your arrest warrent.

But my case is diffrent. Tata indicom is a well known brand. Every one is aware of it. But i have't expected such a bad experience in their site www.tataindicombroadband.co.in. Their payment gate way is complete shit.. It shows your transaction is failed but the money is swiped out of my card.. Even after the month they are not responding to my complaint.. I don't know .. Is there is any government athorites are here to monitor such a frauds... Surly I hav't expect it from TATA..

    Anybody who is happy with TATA INDICOM Service must have won a lottery for sure!


    I do not want to reiterate my story, since it's pretty much the same. It's 1.5 months since I have my cheque and still waiting for a connection.


    NO response to umpteen calls and mails. Service engineers do not even pick up your calls once they note the numbers.

    I sympathise with you all, and I also have great tales from Tata worthless service. They donot have a toll-free number, even though everytime the call center person says he/she is in Pune. My broadband connection has goes down many a times in the past few months. So, calling customer care from Delhi, I pay for local call lasting at least 20-30 mins costing me about Rs. 30-50 everytime I call, AND the company reroutes my call and incurs STD charges too. What utter foolishness on their part!
    They haven't listened to me to enable a toll-free number for their customer service, unless I am missing something. Moreover, they don't have Internet bill payment system and can't bill my credit card over the phone. So, everytime, I have to go to their office or find an ICICI ATM, write a cheque, drop it into the drop box and hope that my bill will be credited correctly.
    I also have a dial-up connection from Tata, and while renewing the plan, the website just did not show up the Serial and PIN number required for renewing the plan. I talked with Customer care many times and they assured me that an email shall be sent "Soon". Well, its been a month and a half, and still no sign of my email, despite reminders from my side and daily email to their customercare...... PATHETIC!!!!

    I had a gut feeling that I would find a thread like this on the service of F***ing Tata indicom broadband.


    My internet is completely down since July 01 and their support staff really suck. They simply say work is in progress, I will get it up to my higher ups or I will make sure some one will call you. No one calls nor any update.


    I am really frustrated with thse people as this is the 2nd time I am having trouble. In April, it was down completely for 20 days. I dont have any other decent service provider in my area (kumara park west).


    I dont know how to deal with this SH**. ITs still down. Please suggest something guys!!!!

    I am a computer engineer myself. Working for India's top most IT Compnay. Have installed and designed multiple networks.


    I have used satyam broadband and spectranet. Satyam is the worst broadband service ever. Satyam dealers try to rip you off . The satyam as a compan never pics up the phone itself. I call it wombat waste of my times and brians.


    I applied for Airtel Broadband. It was a good service when they started. However here is the real picture of Airtel Broadband. But things are getting worst


    Plan unlimited - Rs 699 a month 128k
    You get speeds around 10-12k download. At peak hours the speed go as low as 8-9 k. When you call Airtel broadband they will say that the speeds are not slow as they have a minimum commitment level of 64 k!!!!! which is shocking, They advertise speeds 128 k. The service level should not fall below 80% but the level 2 team and the hopeless engineers that visit the house dont have a clue they all say if you are getting a download of 8 k or above then the speeds are according to the plan.
    For christ sake I was getting 6-7 k download on dial up then why i need broadband!! Finally I upgraded to airtel 256 k service and I was provised I will get better speeds. Here is the true story about the 256k service


    Plan 999 Unlimited- 256k speed
    Now I was promised that the speeds will not fall below 128 k !!! Mind you this is 16k download. Here are my speeds and application results
    Downloading at peak times 13k downloading at non peak times maximum of 16-18k which disgust me as a customer. My ping rate as high as 900 ms. After a million phone calls to Airtel they finally managed to install a E1 in my area. Ping rate improved, however download rate has not improved. I called what they call the knock (server room ) they claim that there is no issue with speeeds. I have taken multiple screen shots of Airtel and I wish I could drag them to consumer court . They are now charging me for the service for more then 1 year failing to meet the minimum commitment level. The irony of the story is I am not able to find a better provider then Airtel in India and where I live.


    PS: If the country is ruled by old farts like v.p singh, Mr laloo ( a complete idot) or even Mr Vajpayee....mulayam sign yadav or even todays Mr. Manmohan singh (he would be the one i respect most) However he has failed to make any difference. We are not going to see any changes in this country, We need some eductaed open minded fresh blood in politics who can make changes, who can bring some civic sense/ commen sense to india. Other wise no matter how fast our economies grow we are still a bunch of ugly cities where garbage and cows lies on streets and stry dogs.
    One thing can only change this country that is revolution and standing up for ourselfs and respect humans way before religion.


    Another PS: Common wealth games are coming we have the most pathetic infrastucture in the entire world and govt has spent million of ruppes building a Akash Darshan Temple!!!!! WTF!! EDIOTS WHAT ABOUT SPENDING THE F***** money on making a good sports complex bringing new technologies to give our sportsmen chances of doing better.

    i entirely agree; in bangalore too the tataindicom broadband services are pathetic. my broadband connectivity is non-existant for a month now. the customer service cell is atrocious. firstly it is ot reachable. if at all you succeed in reaching them you hear only recorded message informing you their sevice executives are so busy they cannot take your call put please hold on and listen to their crap about how great tataindicom services are.

    One more story - I applied for Tata Indicom connection on 22nd May, Money was taken and debited by 2nd June. Today is 14th July - no connection is given till now. Every time I call up like parrots the call centre employees say"I apologise Mam", "Whats your complaint number Mam", "What is your contact number mam" and finally"give us 24 hours we will resolve the problem". Thats the end - the same conversation I am having every evening with the CCC employees.


    The person who came and contacted and collected the money is now switching off his mobile or if he recognises my voice is switching off.


    I have decided to move to the consumer court but can anyone tell me / guide me where is the starting point for the same

    tata indicom sucks (even in bangalore). the back end team is insensitive and irresponsible. they never care to call the customer and happily close the complaint to maintain their SLA. i will prefer to stick to dial up rather than opting for tata indicom broadband.

    i read all the comment of tata indicom BB. My experience with tata is very good. this is my fourth bill which i will be paying by 15 of this month. since four moths i suffered only 3 time. for each time connection was down for 3 days. and i got down time for that also.


    i understand that there r lot of people having problem with this connection. but tata have lot of customer base and customer care people r very less to take care of problems. still i could say that there r lot of cust those how r availing this service continuously.


    to register a complaint apart from calling custmer care there is other ways also. you need to log on to myaccount section of tata indicombroadband website and there is a tab called contact us and in that page you will get register a complaint link.whenever you register a complaint you will get a complaint number.


    this is the best ways since you can avoid phone bills for calling custemer care and you can avoid lot of time holding the reciever to get connect with customer care. and you can type complete description of problem in that register a complaint page .

    I have had Tata Indicom for nearly 4 years - including the Dishnet DSL days. The above stories sound like mine with different dates. I have had so much trouble in the past three months I hate them from the bottom of my heart. Lets not take this lying down. Lets unite and screw this people. I am sure they are bothered about their share prices. We need a strong voice. Guys lets unite. I am all for it. Wherever you are in India (I am in Delhi), we face the same problem. We need to work together as a team and go to the consumer court and drag these bastards out. Dont ignore it.

    Forget their Internet connection even their Teleservices is pathetic.i had taken their phone connection,we had six numbers in our A/C.We needed to get it transferred to Dadar from Andheri.The Executive who spoke to us said it will be done in 48 hrs.
    Their technical person came and pulled the lines till our office from their hub on the ground floor.That was the last we saw of any person from the company.for the past 15 days we are just giving complaints and are being reassuredthat our problem will be solved in the next 24hrs.Nobody from the company has even bothered to call up and check on us.
    I believe they are taking advantage of the outsourcing as all the complaints go to the call centre and there is no way we can interact with the company people.

    I also have bad experience. vsnl does not any attention to your complaint. My paid amount has suddenly gone down by more than 1ooo Rs. I am unable to open usage account. After sending mail, there is no reply. It is impossible to contact the office on phone.
    I think all of us should try to take some action against Tataindicom.

    My net finally worked today (dont know how many minuts/hour/days it will work the complaint no. was 41743203(on 19th june) and today is 5th July so around 16 days its takes for these guys to correct it.

    First I must thank you, for creating aplatform to share our experience, so that we may try and save otheres.


    My experience is similar as yours. Only dates are different - paid them on 11th June, then chased them for 7 calender days to ultimately get the connection up on 25th June evening. Mind you Tata Indicom has been more efficient than some of the MNC Banks to get the money/payment collected.


    Today it is 9th day from the first time I had registered a complaint, and still, funnily enough Customer Care keeps on saying that it will be resoved within next 24 hours.


    However, I have put the matter under a consumer forum solicitor's attention, and would try & put some lesson-orientation for the otherwise non-professional, non-committed, insincere Tata Indicom service support.


    I really wish, that even my enemy does not book Tata Indicom broadband at Delhi.


    It is amazing that this organization, which is supposed to be run professionally, does not respect service level agreement, in the year 2006?!!!?!!!

    I'm having the same experience in Chennai as well. My broadband connection was done since 10th june 2006. I've been complaining to the customer care centre and during every call, the automated voice will say "All our executives are busy, please wait". This will go on for about 10 minutes. After that, the so called executive will ask me the details and say that he / she is really sorry for the incovenience and it will be set right in 24 hours time and will be given a complaint number. Till today 18 24 hrs have passed and no action has been taken. The tragedy is that every alternate day, somebody will call me and enquire whether the connection is working!. Since, i have very little time to look into the matter, it goes on and on
    The service and speed are abysimally low and pathetic!

    Tata Indicom is extreamly Pathetic. I have applied for the connection, 64 kbps line in first week of May 2006. They promiced me it would be fixed in 7 to 8 days. Its over 50 days now and I do not have the connection.
    During this time, I called theie Service center many times. Every time the wait period was over 10 mins and I was asked to call back. But I waited and waited and finally got to talk to some one. After my immense cursing for 8/10 times, finally their engineer came and fixed up modem and asked me to convert my existing email ID with VSNL to broadband. So I did. Then he told me that it woulld be activated the next day.
    Next day was funnier, I was not even able to access my Dial-up ID. So I comaplined again. Every time in the complaint, I got the same answer that somebody will contact me in 24 hrs. No body ever did. Again after fighting for 2/3 days, I got my Dial-up ID back, which is actually my business ID also. I missed on my mails for 3 days.
    But still my broad band connection was not activated. So one fine day I lost my cool and really cursed them like hell and as them to cancel my connection and give my money back. They asked me to use proffessional language. But I threatened them to go to police. Then one fine day, my broadband plan was activated, even when I dint want it. I thought that I might use it if its activated anyway. But from that day, DSL light on modem never came up and i still am not able to connect nor do I have my money back.


    I havent seen such a worst service in my life and I am seriously thinking of going to polce as they have taken mney in advance for 6 months.

    I had much bitter experience.My prepaid package for renual was not getting uploaded, hence I approached service provider, who took the serial No. of package and PIN and promised to restore internet service by evening. When I checked my account at home in the evening it showed Rs1/- only, inspite of unused services.Service provider raised his hands & gave Customer Service Number.When you call-up customer service, you get all recorded messages for hours but no one picks-up the phone. Going to consumer court may help in refunds. Inform if anybody is trying.

    I am a 5 year old customer of VSNL in Delhi with id anupam.sri@vsnl.ne. When Tata Indicom guys contacted me for a broadband i agreed looking at there good services for the past years i used there services. But for my surprise

    I thought these cases were isolated, but looking at the responses here I am really amazed. The amount of calls that I made to the customer service and the time which I was on hold to get connected has resulted in a fat mobile bill from hutch about 1000rs more than normal.
    The question is you can't do anything about it as there is no law as such. Only option is to go to cosumer court.

    I am facing same problems with Tata Indicom broadband!! Bloody assholes harrased me for paying in advance for connection! I paid for their 64 kbps line unlimited plan for 6 months in advanced.
    They promiced me to give connection in 7 days. Now its over 40 days and still there is no connection. After a month r so, their engineer came and fixed up modem and line and asked me to convert my existing dial-up ID to broadband so I can get 50 mb mail box. So I did. After that both the accounts were locked for 2 days. I was not able to receive my regular business emails even on dial-up.
    I fought with them hard, so they atlease started bak my dial-up account but till this date they have not activated my broadband connection, god knows why?
    Their customer service is another issue. If you call up their service in Pune, it asks you to always call back as the wait time is 99% above 10 to 12 mins. If you still hang on, then after 10 mins there representative comes. Every time new one. So you have to repeat all the things again and again. Then all they do is to tell you that they have forwarded compaint and within 24 to 48 hrs, I will receive a call from their technical team. I never did.
    I am so fade up witht them so I really used bad language one day and have asked them to cancel my connection, but till date there is no refund.
    Now i am thinking of going to Police for fraud.
    I did not know they are so pathetic!!!


    I have reliance connection at my office and that is the BEST! Immidiate connection, 750 rs for 150 kbps , unlimited dl. Hardly any down time. dl speeds at 18 kbps. and v good customer service and we are provided with direct access to a corporate liason. I am to happy with them. I wish they put lines fast in my recedensial area!!


    Guys, whatever may comes, dont go for Tata indicom!! Highly pathetic!!

    It seems we all have same stories of pathetic customer service from TATA. Although I am user of the broadband service right from Dishnet DSL days (about 5 years ago) I never experienced such oceanic standards of absolute discourteous services.


    I lodged a complaint of link being down on 22nd of May '06, and since then it is just routine and umpteen number of calls to so called "customer service" wherein all you get to hear is some sweet talking robotic executive who absolutely cannot "service" your complaint.


    Now I was just amazed when I simply put my pen to work to calculate the number of calls and duration of calls that I made to these morons, guess what, it was more than my whole month's internet bill that i have already spend on making calls to these buggers, and still at the end of it I am still only waiting for my router to wake up, start blinking, and start giving me "the service."


    Anyone in Bangalore who wants to drag them to customer court and also knows how to go about, I am with you.

    I got a TATA INDICOM Landline (080 56999107)Connection in October 2005. I asked for an Internet Plan, but they put me in single rate plan. The bill amount that came was 2000/- Then I asked them for 700/- millenium plan(Unlimited Download with 1 GB free download), then the next month bill which I was expecting to be within 750 came around 2000. Then I lodged a complaint.They claimed that I am in Single Rate plan and would call back telling .. I am billed accordingly..Then I asked for an itemized bill and even narrated them that my bill shows that i am in Millenium plan,then a person by name Vidhya called me and told me to pay 600/-, the units i used was 3998 units. The next month I was expecting around 750. When I got a bill for 6716/- They said the units was 2123 which means I have used 2123 MB of data transfer and after a discount of 1 GB , they have charged 5/- per MB and hence the bill is 6716.When I lodged a complaint back, they ignored my complaint. They did nt respond afterwards..My credit limit was just 1000/-, so i asked them why they did not intimate me in advance.After 2 months a person called Harsha (9243199169) contacted me. Then I asked Harsha for an itemized bill, then he called me to their office in Koramangala and I talked to the Manager Arjun then one more person showed the itemized bill it in the system . I asked them how they calculate how much usage I do per day and he saidas they said they could not get a print out of it.. I asked him how they calculate the usage, for which he said they system itself calculates, so my bill amount is correct.Then I asked them to give a break up of the bill in terms of how much MB I have used in a day. For which they said they would mail it to my e-mail id. Then after that there was no response from them.
    After 2 weeks a person by name Arun from Tata Indicom called me and said that I can surrender the instrument if I am not using them. Then when he came to collect the instrument he asked me to pay 700 + 700 for 2 months as he said I used the connection.When I said no , he asked me to pay atleast 500/-. Then I asked him to produce the itemized bill with break up in MB and I would pay him immediately, he said he cant give it.This happened last month(May 2006). Now recently I got a mail from TATA INDICOM Legal Dept Sanjeev A Kumar for ordering me to pay 7615 as it is outstanding from December 2005. If I dont pay I have to face legal charges for non payment of the bill.This I find ridiculous, when my complaint about the bill payment is now over from their end , how could they send me such a threatining mail..Can anyone help me in how to proceed further. How do I approach the consumer court.

    Hi... Abhilash here from Bangalore - BTM. Welcome to the club guys! I've got a Tata-Indicom broadband connection myself and it's been dead since May 11th. First it was a problem with the link and then one day the router just went completely dead. I called up customer service umpteen number of times and no matter how many times I told them that my router's dead, they keep telling me that there's some problem with the link! I really wanna sue the living daylights outta these guys, but I dunno how to go about it. Maybe a joint effort might prove to be fruitful! Guys.. If anybody out there is ready for a joint combat... Hop in!...

    Hi I'm Amrita from Bangalore. I've had an awful experience with Tata Indicom. They did not give me a connection but encashed the cheque for Rs. 2800 change immediately... I've tried talking to people all the way upto the managerial level who are not in the least interested to listen to customers' grievances. It's been 3 months... Are we dealing with CHEATS here... people who make false promises...? Anyways, the cheque was crossed and payable to the company. Hence it was the responsibility of the company to reimburse my money.

    Hi, I am late in checking this blog. I applied for TATA INDICOM BROADBAND on 24th April,06. They told me that internet connection will be configured within 10 working days. I waited till 15th May,06 and then i asked for the refund as i was not happy with the service and response. They said some executive will call you in another 24 hrs and i have called around 10 times and still i am waiting for their 24hrs to get completed. i think they are living in some another planet. They are hopeless and i think we shall go to TRAI office and file a complaint against them.

    Why not try airtel broadband or ? so far its good... with no hassle... and got great packages its cheaper then sify 256kbps unlimited by 300 rupees but don't take mtnl nor bsnl they sucks
    Actually they should be the cheapest one coz they are public org. but private player are cheaper and more feasible then them....
    lets all march to TRAI office and complain about this
    check www.tiscali.com for thier broadband and compare with indian one...

    I have a exactly opposite experience with Sify. I will say it is the Worst Broadband ISP I have ever seen.


    The SIFY contractor in our area (PUNE) does not allow other service providers to enter??? Where are we democracy or communism? The same operator has got BSNL Exchange and has given contact number of Airtel?


    If he, himself is not loyal to his Business, how can he force customers to go for only SIFY and try to build monopoly of SIFY?


    SIFY Is a broadband operator which was not having a single Postpaid plan??? A provider with no plan of Unlimited download?? A provider calling it Broadband and allowing customers to download free only from 10 pm - 08 am.


    I don’t have any other words to describe about Unethical and pathetic marketing strategy and service… SIFY is not match for TATAs… not for next billion years….

    Hii Friends, I am Jagdish from east Delhi.... Earlier I was using Tata Indicom broadband connection....... but it was pathetic. I dont' recommend it to any one.. After using it for 5 months I got it disconnected.. I think I could hardly use it for 1 month..
    Now I need to access the net.. I just dont' know which to select from so many companies... Some of my friends suggested me to go for MTNL..
    I would like to know your reviews over it....

    these people do not know what is customer care.only knows sending bills from time to time and connection disconecting if it is late. you have to wait minimum 20 mins for customer care number. then once u launch the complaint then u will get false commitment that it will solve within 24 hrs. but it will not get solved within 72 hrs. and customer care executives plays the same cassete of what they taught. but nobody makes u courtecy calls or mail. if IT has made revolution the we have to make another revolution to improve the services.

    Hi, I am from Malad, Mumbai. I am using MTNL triband for last 1 year. I was thinking of swithing over to Tata Indicom broadband, but thnaks to all of you the negative feedback that I am getting about the service provider I am really scared to switch over. At least MTNL is providing a decent service at a reasonable cost. Only issue is that I will have to continue a landline phone which I dont use.

    I think all of it is ok till the time you get services at the right time you need. My personal experience is all private players can talk big only, it seems they spend all thier money and energy in BRAND PROMOTION and when it comes to services they can work very well sitting in their cozy offices and this is what suits them. Their manpower does not take pain to provide solution they will provide an ear to listen to you but technology front they are still incompetent.
    I feel BSNL/VSNL/MTNL are great not becuase they are government but they have infrastucture to support and it is BIG, well tested and used by good number and demographicaly too.

    I wish I had read this before taking up Tata Indicom. Surely, just going through a couple of blogs here I see whole sets of commonalities. Tata
    Indicom is the worst service provider because:


    1) When one applies for a new connection:
    a) VSNL does so called feasibility studies (which takes 5-6 days!!!)
    b) If you happen to get a feasibility study done before applying,
    VSNL again does a feasibility study when the application is filed!!!.
    c) No one is reachable. No one picks up phones. No sales agents are
    reachable after filling an application for a connection.
    d) VSNL gives connection to you after a month (Sales commit a 7-15
    days period!!!!)
    2) When one gets a connection
    a) The subscriber is impressed. (Only lasting for a day or two)
    b) The connection goes down, subcriber files a complaint, customer
    care promises a call back. Subscriber doesnt get a solution, doesnt
    get a callback. Subscriber again calls back....Process loops.and loops..
    c) Customer care/Technical staff calls back to ask if it is working, you
    check, connection is working. You say thanks only to find after
    returning to your PC the connection is again gone!!!. Atleast you can
    sense the speed here!!!
    d) VSNL charges for 1 month, gives a connection only for 5 -10 days.
    e) Subscriber gets a account renewal message even if he has used
    only for 1 day or 2 days. The technical team says, shutdown PC,
    restart after 5 mins (restart router also). Poor chaps having a
    bandwidth limited connection.


    After numerous calls, I have given up (note all this is within 20 days of
    experience) and decided not to let it take a toll on my health (considering
    the heated conversations with the poor customer care fellow chaps) and
    not to let my telephone bill go high..


    GoodBye Tata Indicom Broadband!!!

    Alas, i never thought of researching TATAindicom service before signing up for the connection and it "SUCKS". It isnt working and the customer care department doesnt help.
    I am seriously thinking of going to the customer court. If possible please send me the details regarding how to go about suing these bas****.

    I have horrible expereince with Tata Broadband.


    I am having Tata Broadband connection, I am from BTM, Bangalore.


    I didnt have connection for a period of 35 days.And I got bill for that month.
    So even if I dont have internet connection for complete month I still have to pay for that period.
    I am still fighting them.I paid some(~2k)initial non-refundable amount, that was a trap.
    Even if you dont have net connection, they will tell you that you downloaded 60 mb, 30mb, maybe some GHOSTS sitting there downloading on my IP address.


    Customer care is not helpfull, they give you stupid sugestions. they put you on hold for long periods, so you get a costly phone bills, just now I paid 84 Rupees for a phone call to customer care.


    If you going for TataBB you be ready get strange problems Modem problems, theif's stolen Broadband Wire, IP conflicts, forcible donation to make Tata rich.


    I strictly suggest not to go for TATA BROADBAND CONNECTION.

    My experience with Broadband in Delhi....
    I share the same experiences with everyone for Hathway, Sify, VSNL (Tata Internet Broadband). None of these is reliable. What is lacking is that they all ride on a very weak and unreliable last mile (which means the line which brings the connection to your home/office), whereas their network uses the more reliable Wireless or Fiber optics network from the service provider to their POPs in different territories. Airtel has a much better underground last mile but they take a long time to rectify the problem, but the failure frequency is normally low. What we require is the ISPs provide the last mile only through WiFi (hot spots) in your areas, or use copper on fiber optics , with so much fiber laid across Delhi and capacity being unused!!. The problem needs to be addressed by the ISP Association ISAPI and DOT (which has done a great thing by regulating tarriffs and bringing down the cost of Broadband, but not much to regulate the Quality of service which they lay down in writing in the SLAs . Again a question of good intention and poor planning and even poorer implementation. Till that time, we will go on suffering like this, and soon consumer forums will be full of complaints from harrassed ISP customers.I hope that ISPAI and ISPs and DOT is listening.

  • Further developments:
    tataindicombroadband have successfully “disconnected” my twice disconnected connection again. This is some prompt and vigilant service indeed.
    Also, TIB has shown Extreme indulgence in Billing for ‘Services NOT Rendered”,: They have posted yet another Bill !!
    Now, I have been appointed as “BILLING Vigilance Officer”. I am answering calls from miscellaneous blokes from billing about
    ” were you at home at 7pm on 29th?’,
    ” Das says he called you. What time did he call?”
    ” Sir, Suhail has not called you but says he did. He did not call you at all no sir?”
    ” Sir, dont tell Deepak i called….”
    Some of the guys (4) have become my friends: they asked for my personal no. and when I’ll be free….


    These guys at Billing are now bitching at CustomerCare and Tech Support with all kinds of stories. Unfortunately my Vox Recorder overflowed.
    Guys, there is something wrong at TIB. It is now a VSNL-TATA-DISHNET AMALGAMATE. THERE ARE SOME SERIOUS IN-HOUSE RIVALRY AND BITCHING BETWEEN DEPARTMENTS.
    Why hasnt anyone sued tataindicom yet? I have seen hundreds of dissatisfied posts on the forums/Blogs etc.,
    I am all for Suing TATAINDICOM for Dificient Service, Fraud and Negligence.

    The following is PROOF of the "FANTASTIC SERVICE" offered by tataindicombroadband ::
    They want payment for "Services NOT rendered" during 0ct2nd to date Dec 2nd. They have a "Server Problem" which has Blocked me completely. They have 'Software " problems and conflicts, which theyt dont understand and are unable to set right. They dont forward " comoplaints " to the concerned 'Field Engineers'. The front End customerCare people dont understand the problem nor record your statement correctly.


    I am BLOCKED by the VSNL server from myaccount, myusage, my_email. ?they have 'Reset" my password without my permission or knowledge. This is like the Bank Resetting your ATM PIN No. without your knowledge.
    The 'Service Engineers' send "Reports" of 'action taken, All OK, without visiting my house!!!
    They dont have the courtesy of answering my COMPLAINTS or my E-mails.
    Now BILLING has "DISCONNECTED" me from my 8 week old "DEAD" Connection!!! for non-payment of Bills, when I have NOT been allowed to use the Internet, After suyccessfully "BLOCKING" me from my own account.


    Now, I think they will "disconnect" my already disconnected connection again, since the next months bill is through.

    Please look at my experience with tata Indicom broadband internet.


    I am working as a senior system administrator in a software company. This is the false cheating report created by Tata Indicom and charging us for that every month. For your reference I am providing the latest bill. Please publish this for public view.


    We observed and found there is a “false internet usage report” showing in our tata indicom broadband internet my usage. When I checked with view details, Tata indicom is charging on our office holidays (Saturday and Sundays). Even my office is shut and nobody worked also my internet usage is reflecting on those days too. Tata indicom is trying to cheat the customers by burdening with false bills.


    The report is reflecting internet usage on those days and they have also charged for that? I wanted to take this up legally. What is the procedure for this?

    we r using HATHWAY lite way 1 regular plan...as per that we must enjoy 256kbps speed...and our download limit is 1gb per month.....we r paying around rs550(+100 modem) per month....our biggesdt problem is we never get the right speed....we r getting around 19-80 kbps.....we called customer care so many times..we got response too..but they cant rectify the problem.....wat i need to do i dont understand.....let me know how is AITEL BROADBAND connection..r they providing the speed they promised....thanks all

    To All users who have Airtel / Tata / or any service provider.


    Do not go for an Internet connection package which mentions Data download usage limit (Like 1000 MB download package or 500 MB download package for some amounts of money.


    Most of the service providers manipulate meter which measures the data downloading by the customer. It goes abnormally, and your data usage limit will be over too soon even if you have not downloaded any thing concrete.


    Attentive and updated Customers like us can fix these service providers, to provides us the reliable services.

    Real Picture of BROADBAND in INDIA>>>>>


    "We are No Where in terms of BROADBAND"


    Indian ISP companies have lowest respect for the consumers !!! According to them all the customers are dumbheaded and whatever they wanna convey to the customer (call it an advertising or marketing gimmick), the customer will nod in acknowledgement. Supposingly they were earlier projecting 64Kbps as Broadband, and the cable service provider was giving us a ethernet cable connection with 10 mbps ethernet cable. Somehow the Government of India woke up and set the Broadband starting speed from 256Kbps (raising its level of definition to International Broadband definition). Its nearing to 1 year now, India still lacks proper Broadband plus the cost of the actual Broadband is still much high (24hrs unlimited) and tech companies are unable to provide a streaming Broadband access.


    We still pay 1100 for 24 hrs, 128 kbps speed which is an ISDN connection in fact. 256 Kbps wud be very high by any standards compared to US (54 Mbps, 1 Mbit/s at a nominal rental amount of USD 20/- per month !!!
    An example - 40 MB file gets downloaded in 40 secs !!!!!!!!!!


    Is any INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDER LISTENING, LIVE UPTO THE INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS. We are providing the best of the software services to USA/UK, wherever you point out, but we are still living in a primitive age of internet.


    A normal user still, cannot hear an online music or watch streaming HQ video files or live broadcast ( the minimum viewable broadcast wud be at around 85 kbps. But very few streaming stuffs are being broadcasted on this much speed. All of them require 256Kbps min.


    An online MP3 song (with a crystal clear quality) requires min. of 128Kbps.


    One more problem with these companies, supplying internet connections thru cable, the frequent power disruptions will make your life hell, as many have problem with UPS. According to the rule, all these service providers should have lowest of downtime or nothing. Like a Cell phone service or MTNL service, they should be up and running always. Which is not the Fact.


    SO my conclusion, Internet in India is pathetic, worst, well below International Standards ( We are a Big Software exporting Country , 60% of outsourcing jobs come to us).


    Lack of sensitivity towards Customers and higher price tag is a bottle neck to the spread of Real Broadband.


    One more thing, NO one should go for Internet access thru GPRS, on your computer, by any service provider, you wont get a thru put speed of even 2 Kbit/s, you will have to wait for few seconds to let Yahoo page to open!!!


    My views are based on my own practical experiences in India and abroad.

    I am using Speednet connect in paschim vihar, new delhi.
    They offered 128 kbps download connection which i get rarely. From past 4 days, i am getting 32 bytes pes second and even less. I need to refresh a site several times to get it finally. I complained 3 days back, and still there is no correction.


    The help desk team is horrible and hopeless and i feel worst and i should say cheaters. They never correct the problems after so many complaints. when finally i bang them, they say you have never complained!!


    The help desk number is most of the time busy or nobody lifts it.


    I don't know what should i tell them.

    i have been on the airtel 128 kbps unlimited download and uptime plan. the total down time i have had to face till now is about 1 hour in about 3 months. of this about fifteen minutes were for some DNS server issue at their end and when i had called them up they had promptly tld me that yes we are facing some issue and it would be resolved in about an hour. i tried in another fifteen minutes and 'voilla'. the other issues had to deal with the power cycling of theier modem. reading on the internet i found that a DSL modem should be power cycled once a week. no issues since then and yes i have been getting speeds of 110-120kbps which i think are excellent. reading what other guys have to say i think i should really thank my stars...

    This is really shame !!! Big Rip off...Paying the fatty sum for broadband and not getting the quality service. Customer is running after the ISPs to get the work done. The blacklisted notorious brands are Tata Indicom another name of Dishnet, Hotwire, Sify & Speednet et al..... After reading all the above threads it has made evident that there is no ISP provider in Delhi who can take the veins. All are day light robbers. Need to kick their asses coz our hardcore money does not grow on trees.


    I am on new Unlimited Airtel broadband connection for three days now, Had to make several calls to Airtel to get my new connection up. Not sure how good it will be. It was down yesterday for 2 hours and then luckily I managed to fix their fucking problem. Lodged a complaint. On being asked the Customer Care Representative I was told that the problem would be resolved in 8 working days. As It was new connection still on trial. I was stunned, &^%%&%&%%&* should fix technical bugs before launching their services.


    Pls flash your comments about Airtel ??? Anyone who is on the same boat....

    Well another little piece of info on the BroadBand service provides and their tricks!
    it was the starting of the month of august... and the local cable-wallah came to collect the monthly fees(i guess most in delhi know the cable rates are hiked by another Rs:106/-).. he gave a letter for triband connection from tata... which i was very happy to see..i promptly said i want the connection as soon as possible.. guess what he refused to accept the connection request as he said he has a lot of pending customers!
    Well to go deep into the crisis.. i asked on whose part is the delay being done? to which he replied that it was on their(cable-wallah) part!. i was told to keep calling the cable-wallah at every fortnight to know the status..!
    so i gave up!
    PS: i was also told tata guys put up a big box in our society so i guess i'll be facing lesser downtime when i get the connection!


    Another little report... in another society closeby airtel and mtnl have laid their underground wires.. residents are requested to remove hotwire/Sify/Tata connection within a months time.
    Reson: Service providers except Airtel/Mtnl have put their wires going from one block to other.. gives a bad look to society. Airtel/Mtnl did their 'under -groundwork' .
    Well i liked the reason but i hope this was purely from the management and nothing to do with airtel/mtnl guys!


    Still waiting for tata to show up at my society! (Yes, i still favor tata over others, except airtel shows up)

    Tata Indicom is by far the worst ISP on the planet... they take bad service to a whole new level!!!


    took a connection in June... more than 3 weeks to install and that is just the beginning!


    first they gave me a wrong login and email id - miss-spelt my name and then refused to change it and refused to accept their liability... and this despite the fact that i told the installation guy that its a wrong spelling - no problem sir just call customer service and they'll change it i was told!!! once traffic is generated on the account they cant change it apparently - lost count of number calls i made and complaint numbers i got... you obviously cannot talk to a senior executive and their call center is full of morons!


    it was a 500 mb limit plan and despite barely using the account - 500 MB was over in 3 days... you use the net for one hour for normal surfing and without downloading anything and you end up with a usage of 200mb - i have no idea how they do this!!!!


    And obviously the link was down every second day!!!! then i get a bill of more than 2 grand for a connection which was down almost all the time and which i hardly ever used... they say i used 1.5GB!!!


    then finally i was told come to our office and we'll sort out every problem... so like an idiot i go to their office... and as expected they simply refused to do anything... how does a wrong name spelling make a difference in your email id? is what i was told by one of their executives!!!only when i refused to budge without meeting a senior executive did a so called manager come down. he also refused to accept their fault - according to him the only option was to change the plan to unlimited 64... then i can get a new email/login id etc and the usage problem wont be there... so it was like ok fine... lets do it and get over with it. cleared all the dues and was told it'll take 2 working days!


    After a 100 heated calls and countless abuses and threats - it took them 4 days short of a month to change the plan!!!!


    but now the bloody problem is that it still sucks - they say its 64kbps - but it just doesnt seem to work at that speed.


    YOU JUST CANT WIN


    in effect - i have paid VSNL over 4000 rs in 2 months (of which 1 month i wasnt here) for literally no service and my always on connection is still ALWAYS *&%^$ OFF


    Somebody should drag these %^$#@*& to court!!!

    Well with regards to number of days to get a connection, I am 86 and still counting. I have complained at least 15 times and each time i was promised a callback from a senior executive.

    Hi. I so agree to this comment - I have had a wonderful experience at the hands of the great Tata people, who are using this household brand to its deathbed now.


    I got a connection for broadbvand after 3-4 weeks of waiting, and after 13-14 days of usage, it promptly switched off - obviously a line issue, since the DSL CPE at my palce cannot connect to the DSLAM. Called them on the 11th of August, and got a trouble ticket niumber for my effortsd with the assurance that someone will call me back in 24 hours. It is today the 22nd of August and no one called me back - however, I did try to call them again, and plea my case 3 times in this duration. To no avail - each time a trouble ticket number issued by a sweet talking call center executive who doesnt give a damn about me and my sorrows. I am entitled to escalation, but will I ever get it? I dont think so. I do not know how anyone so apathetic can be allowed to operate in our country, these people should be penalized heavily for every small error that they make, which causes suffering to the customers.


    Also, Most amazingly, when asked what the reason for this downtime is, I was told that their operators have gone on strike and have cut the customer lines. This sounds worse than what I have ever gone through in my 25 years of life in this country. Someone should do something, maybe a PIL if that is applicable.

    tata guys are cheaters, they are prompt in collecting the payment but fail to deliver the services. i had applied for new connection on 28 june 2005, till this day i m still waiting for the connection despite lodging several complaints with customer service dept.
    over all tata SUCKS, vsnl was much better before tata took over

    HAHA, I came across your article on Sifybroadband while looking around for a new number, sad how these big boars don't have anything automated to check on the Internet. A friend's number has changed, and I'm trying to find out on the internet for the new number, and nope.. we're still in the 18th century.


    Anyway I particularly laughed about how there's a cap of 400MB!!!? LOL, here.. in Canada, we used to have a cap of 80GB. And now even that's been removed because of competition, lol.


    I think India needs some thing or someone who will change the Internet over there. Till then, let's just pray.

    We need something like the mobile revolution to kickstart lower prices and higher services. Sadly, I expected the BSNL MTNL plans to do this, but they havent caused it...Waiting for Reliance BB.

  • I was on their 1 gb plan,but when I saw my data usage, I applied to be moved over to the unlimited plan, just to avoid the headache. They count both uploads and downloads to come to the total usage :-| . I had a bad experience with their customer service too (it took 17-20 days to resolve the issue ), but I thought it was ony specific to Bangalore.


    From what I have heard, Airtel is good, but a bit pricey. Hathway is OK
