It has been a none too rosy year for Indian Corporate Sector with several high profile scams hurting the carefully made up corporate image of the country. The year started with a bang when in January 2009, the then Chairman of Nasdaq listed Satyam Computer Services, stunned the world by admitting to gigantic corporate fraud. The stock hurtled down as news of the scam spread and Nasdaq had to suspend trading in the stock.

The fraud sent shivers through the Indian IT industry which is fully dependent on good will generated by it thus far in US and other western countries. As an after shock all Indian IT stocks lost ground in the market.

According to the report, the other major scams involved Price Waterhouse Coopers (PWC), Punjab National Bank (PNB), Wipro & City Limouzines

PWC finds itself in the report due to the alleged collusion of its partners with Mr. Ramalinga Raju, founder of Satyam Computer Services in cooking its books over several years.

PNB one of the largest public sector banks in India has landed in the negative list due to the “loan settlement” scam run by its senior managers who would write off loans worth crores for few lakhs by taking huge kick backs.

According to “Complaints India” report, Wipro was done in by its lax internal financial controls which allowed whopping US $4 Million to be siphoned off by an individual employee and the expose may just be tip of an iceberg which Wipro is trying its best to hush up.

“Complaints India” report has a larger section devoted to City Limouzines, a company said to have been patronaged by politicians and was running a sort of Ponzy scheme (similar to the Madoff Scandal which broke in the US during the year) by paying off initial members with the money taken from new members. The company spread its wings across India, opening offices in major cities and trapped more than 25,000 people defrauding more than Rs.3000 crores, promising high rate of return. The money was siphoned off into real estate, films (Bollywood) and personal investments. The promoters are cooling their heels in judicial custody, looking for their politician and Bollywood friends to bail them out of the mess.

For more details refer report at http://www.complaints-india.com/article-corpora...

I have sify broadband connection and was experiencing some technical problem with connectivity so called to their customer care and that experience was hillarious. I have never seen such foolish and low class customer care executives in my lifetime. Here no one knows how to resolve the query. They will just transfer your calls and at last will disconnect it. There are few dumb people seating and dont know the basics of customer care communication. I would suggest Sify management to send them to some training so that these so called customer care executives will learn how to care for customer, how to talk, how to resolve queries, what is Courtesy, and so on...

I have been using sify for the last 3 years and I must say that I never faced a single problem. The best part is you can stay connected to the internet even if there is a blackout (power cuts) in your area.

hey ppl,
i am feeling really good after going through the comments of those unfortunate users who have taken sify as now i know that i am not the only one who is going through a hellish experience. I have taken sify for last 5 years( around 2003) i got this this damm service & i repent it till date....

sify undoubtedly is the worst connection one can ever get. I am paying 1150 bucks every month for using the unlimited plan of 256 kbps which ethically should give me a download speed of around 30 kbps, however around 25 days my download speed crawls at an amazing pace of 2 - 3 kbps so you can calculate the actual speed I am getting instead of the promised 256 kbps.

Anyways, thats one area which has not been resolved permanently , the problem disappears for a short while( actually the duration in which i lodge a complaint uptill an hour or so till a technician comes to see what the problem is, sometimes even he is unable to understand and blames my norton firewall etc etc)...then the speed gets back to its original pace of 3 kbps and sometimes around 15 kbps.

Another problem which i frequently come across is the "disconnection" which I assume is a wide spread problem from which no one is spared, so cant complain on that, as now i think its understood once you take sify that you have to pay for 30 days in advance and use your serivce for around 20 days approx only every month.

Another thing which has happened to me now more frequently is that suddenly in the middle of the month, my connection goes out, reason payment not received or the amount in my account is zero ruppees... then i have to again call up these ppl and ask them to reconnect the connection as the payment has already been debited to me....well this is something i am really pissed off, these people have all faulty softwares or stupid people who are unable to keep things in check and because of which ppl like us suffer...i really think that its time when we all should really make them pay for their mistakes because of which we are suffering. I really wish someone tells me how to lodge a complaint with the consumer protection councils or any other body who would be able to do something about sify.

Airtel on the other hand has been the best experience for me, i had taken an airtel account for my office in CBD, which i used for 2 years and have maybe faced trouble only once or twice(not an exaggeration). m not sure about users who have faced problem with airtel....as i have been really happy with airtel which is unfortunately not providing service in the sec in which i live in vashi.

Well... I don't know really know about Sify. It's not popular here in Madras, at least where I live. Airtel is decent and the speeds or also good. But I feel the best is the state owned provider BSNL. People do get apprehensive if its a govt. service, but I can vouch it is the best, at least here. BSNL offers unlimited plan for as low as 750 bucks with a speed of 256 kbps, cheaper than any private company. So far I haven't had any problems with it, although my friends have been claiming their customer care is not good. But I guess that can be forgiven considering its state owned.
