The Sify broadband India-wide scam

Since my bad experience with Sify, I have been looking around for other similar complaints against Sify. It turns out that they have been running a country-wide racket.

  • Ankur Raheja has filed a case against Sify broadband for losses due to downtime and misleading claims in their advertisements. Take a look at the comments on that page – Chandigarh, Chennai, Bangalore… every city has a problem with Sify. (Thanks to Puneet for the link)
  • Sify Broadband CTOs are freaking liars : Sushub talks of his Sify broadband experiences which are identical to mine with both Sofy broadband and Hotwire Internet.

    It’s the case of negligence of customers by Sify Broadband Service and believe me before writing to you I have already wrote number of mails and fax to sify. I have kept save all the mails and fax in case if you need to verify them.
    Service was never good from sify since the starting and somehow I was managing it because I had already paid the non refundable installation fee. In the starting days of taking the sify connection I used to get only 3-4 days of connectivity in the whole month and despite making number of calls to the sify customer care the result was always pathetic. I think I have spent more money in calling them then using their Internet connection and I am not the lonely sufferer. If you check the Internet Community you will find that 80% of the customer are not satisfied. Once a consumer took the connection and they fall in the trap. Nobody can do anything against a corporate giant who is almost inaccessible. You can have this experience first hand by calling their customer care executives. The catch here is, both the sify and their local franchise will point to each other when you ask who is the responsible person.
    Here is my case.
    I renewed my account one week back on 18th of July. UserId: sudeep2011. My Internet was not connecting, I checked and it was saying local gateway connecting problem. I went personally to the CTO (the local franchise) and they came on Friday night and Saturday and finally found out that cable is not working. Now here is the actual problem.
    When some 1 and half year back I took the Sify Connection at that time CTO was different one. They took the installation charges and other charges as applicable. But they were not having the proper logistic and infrastructure support to provide the proper connectivity and it goes on for 5-6 months and after Lots of grievances with sify that continued for further 1 month and finally Sify changes my CTO and I started getting the proper connection. And till now I was not having any problem with the CTO.
    Now the person who came to my place, ask me to pay at least half the price of the cable cost. And here I have an objection.

    Why should I pay the cable cost as I already given the once time installation charge (at the time of installation they promise that this is only one time free later on if any problems comes in the cable they will take care of it. Unfortunately it’s all verbal) Here I want to point out that I took the Internet connection on the brand name of Sify and not with the name of any of CTO. So Sify is given them freedom to tell the lies to the potential customers and back them with full strength.

    If the CTO is getting changed because of they are not able to provide the infrastructure and logistics then the Responsibility lies on the sify as sify has given the responsibility to a person without checking the logistics expected and credibility. I don't know why customer is being harassed with all these?

    Now see the scenario of the customer care.
    · The original mail that I sent on 24th of July, stating all the facts that I mentioned earlier. Nobody responded.
    · Again I send one reminder on 26th of July when I didn’t get any response. I got response to that mail and some customer care executive promised me to get back to me in 3 working days.
    · No body responded to me after 3 days. Only I got one phone call from some representative of sify to call to local CTO on 30th of July. I called up the local CTO but nothing Changed.
    · On 1st of August I again sent one reminder but I didn’t get any respond.
    · I again sent one mail on 3rd of August and respond to that the same customer care executive called me (the one who promised me to call me after 3 working days). This time again making the promise to get back to me one next day. Nothing happened. Whole day I was looking at my phone in hope to get a call.
    · Again I send one reminder mail on 10th of August, for which I got one call on Saturday evening 12th of August, promising me to resolve the issue by Monday. Here the person told me it’s just the matter of 500 Rs only. Why I am making issue of it. I assume all the calls made by the call center representative get recorded. If you ask them then may be you can get what they have said to me. The next thing told to me is that according to the agreement the cable was my property. When I asked them to show me the sign copy of the agreement the person was clueless. Then again persuading me to pay 500 Rs for which I asked them to give me in written the reason why they are asking me for the money and again nobody responded on Monday.
    · On Wednesday 16th of august again I send one fax to sify.
    · When I didn’t get response then called them back on 17th of August. Further 2 days time given.

    I took sify brd band and two months later the operator ran away to Saudi with all the installation charges and leaving the customers in drain. SIFY sucks Sify Sucks. I was in hyderabad before and now am in bangalore Bangalore has got no choices of connection where as in Hyd we have a lot of choices of providers. i have reliance connection and they give amazing service. Bangalore is the worst city with pathetic services. Hyderabad has got so much competition and such good quality of service.
    If any one has got reliance as an option then go for it…..coz it has got very good service and they are reliable

    The services of Tata Indicom Broadband are just ridiculous. They are big cheaters. I have taken connection on 26th Aug, 2006 and paid 4 months advance rental. In a day, I use the net 5 – 10 minutes. Now, they are saying, I owe Rs.823 to them.

    Sify broadband guy have the worst customer service support I have ever seen.
    I dont know if any of you have noticed this but if you use a new computer or a new LAN card you have to call sify broadband and ask them to register it and it took them 5 hours to let me use my new computer.
    Hope airtel guys come to my area soon :)

    Hi, tis is vinoth from sify customer care i here in my job can see lot of sify customers crying at the phone

    Respected sir or madam
    i am very much disappointed after taking ur sify connection service.b cause of ur Engineer Neglancy my windows xp 2000 file currupted.when he was installing the net connection my pc was hanged twice,and both time he restart it.my parents asked him that ye hamesha asia hi hoga kya? so he said no ye pehale aisa hota hai badme nahi hoga.or problem hote hue bhi he installed the connection.then within 45 minits when i loged in the computer hanged three time.and then the windows currupted.
    then i called up the Engineer. He talked very rudely to me,he said aap ko samaj me nahi aata kya mai das bar bol raha hu, aap kyon paagal ke jaise baat kar rahe hai,ye hardware ka problem hai.
    maine hardware Engineer ko bllake pucha to usne clearly bola ke ye hardware ka problem nahi hai.ye Engineer ke wajese hua hai.ke problem aayega ye usko pata tha par usne inform nahi kiya.
    fir maine MULUND branch me call kiya to wahake branch officer ne bhi bahot galat tarike se chilla ke bat kiya,or kaha mai paise refund nahi karunga aap sify se le lena.
    is this kind of service u r providing to ur customer.i have already launch the complain on the complain number par abhi tak koi answer nahi aaya.
    i got the connection on 6th of january 1.00 pm and my pc crashed on 1.45 pm.that Engineer’s name is bheemashankar.
    i am hoping that u will take some action on these 2 people and tell them to refund my money,and correct my pc.i am staying at mulund.
    i am waiting for ur positive reply.plz look into this matter and solve it as soon as possible.

    Today on 8th january the sify vileparle branch's Engineer came to my home and after seeing my pc he said ab kuch nahi ho sakta, this man told us the wrong indendity his name is nitin sakpal and he tols us nitesh he said that we cant refund u the money b cause this is agency Engineer's fault .
    And the agency person is saying mai paisa nahi dunga,sify wala return karega.
    Now u tell me that is this quality service u r providing to the costumers.
    I am waiting for ur reply,plz help me.

    hi guys..anothr unlucky sify user here..well the problem evryone is having is at nights.. NETWORK CABLE UNPLUGGED,this is wat is shown during nights and is restored in the morning..have u noticed that there are 4 wires that get into the lan card plug which u put into ur pc..the solution lies there at ur end for this problem..this is wat i fell..actually 2 days back,one of those 4 wires accidently ws cut due to wear and tear..,when i put the cable into my laptop,it connected it 10mbps instead of regular 100 mbps..wire ws still cut..when i made joint in the wire..it showed NETWORK CABLE UNPLUGGED..the idea i gott ws IF THAT WIRE WSNT CONNECTED TO THE PLUG..I CONNECTED AT 10MBPS..BT IF I MADE JOINT THEN IT SHOWED NETWORK CABLE UNPLUGGED..ALL THIS HAPPENED AT NIGHT AT BOUT 1 AM WHEN USUALLY SIFY SHOWS NETWORK CABLE UNPLUGGED AT NIGHTS..IT IS OPPOSITE..COZactually it shud be connected when joint is made..i am sure if anybody tries and plays with hese 4 wires that are piu into the plug of sify lan..then i m sure we will find out how we can change NETWORK CABLE UNPLUGGED into 100.0 mbps connected..becoz it is becoz of these 4 wires that we r disconnected from sify’s end thru out the nights..plz look into this matter and help each other..bt remmember that there’s a bit of current in the wires as well..do help and cum up with a solution that we can use from other end..bt not giving athorisation of all the 4 tiny wires to sify’s end…best of luck..do reply..

    And for the past few months i am faced all sort of problem

    & after hours or torchering the customer care and hours typying the mail to customer care the SAM server and DNS problem are solved
    & Most of all the Telephone Bill i Payed for my Dialup Backup and Calling Customer Care is over the Installation charges & plan charges
    & finally now its is going better for a past 2 weaks
    & hope Sify does not show the idiotic face gain…….

    Despite uncounted calls to their Care helpline (OR WHATEVER THAT IS), all they said that someone would be calling me back in 24 to 48 hours,and that they would pass on the Trouble Ticket to the RESPECTIVE DEPARTMENT (I GUESS EVEN GOD DOESN’T KNOW WHAT THAT IS!!).

    So people….whatever you do,it’s better that you try Airtel(‘coz I’ve hardly had any problems with it since January), BUT PLEASE, DO NOIT EVEN THINK OF SUBSCRIBING TO TATA INDICOM BROADBAND CONNECTION………….PLEASE!!

    =0 downtime in last 10 months
    i switched to airtel after sify.
    sify=bad speeds (wen available!!!)
    =0 customer care( dont worry they may get a customer care depart in near future!!!!!)
    =10 days uptime in month of 31 days(thats 21 days downtime if my maths correct!!!!)
    i got sify for a month. paid Rs1589 (connection charges+ plan charges) which effectively were drained.
    i thought bout tata connection(thank god the thought didnt materialsed……my frnds suffering in tata’s hell…at least in my area its really bad)
    personally i put sify better then tata (considering wats my friend going through)
    BOTTOMLINE: AIRTEL IS DA BEST

    i thought bout tata connection(thank god the thought didnt materialsed……my frnds suffering in tata’s hell…at least in my area its really bad)

    personally i put sify better then tata (considering wats my friend going through)

    Sify..the worst service.. my internet is not working for last 7 days. those bloody cable wala when ever i approach.. tells me..its will be restored in half hour.. and that half hour never comes.. govt should do something to stop these kind of unfair practice

    I have used sify for a year and used to get frustrated with the problems that come up now and then. the problem is with the local cable operators who hardly have time to fix the problems. if a problem occurs it takes them two or three days to fix it.
    Recently i switched to spectranet and fall into the worst nightmare possible. friends DO NOT GET A SPECTRA NET connection. the price might be cheaper than others but their 128kbps is only 70-80kbps, i.e. they give only half the amount of speed they offer. complain does not make any difference. moreover the server keeps going down.
    so one final warning
    BEWARE OF SPECTRA NET

    Hi All,
    I am having SIFY unlimited 256 kbps connection for a long time. It is just horrible. At least twice in a week it will go down. It automatically logs me out, though I’ve unlimited package. I used to spend more than Rs 500 /- making calls to the customer care but they don’t do anything. Sometimes they close the complain without even attending it. The SIFY client is also funny. If I have two networks enable, then it won’t allow me to login. It opens up IE automatically. It has a huge memory leak(handle leak). On my XP home system if I keep the system running, then after ~24 hours I see bbclient memory usage goes very high and my system responds slowly. Once I made a complain about this and the customer care guy, didn’t even understand how a “leakage” can happen on a computer. I was never been able to use the email id provided by them. It just doesn’t work. After spending huge money for making complains, I stopped calling them. But I have no other alternatives. If you have option, then don’t use SIFY.

    i am a sify user from last two years and to be honest it never gave me any problem……..only some time in rainy season the connection gets disconnected but it gets resolved after the complaint………so i am happy with it.

    I think, You Telecom (Formerly Iqara Broadband), is the the best Broadband service in Mumbai.
    I have been using it for the past 2 yrs, and I have been very much satisfied with their service and support.
    Also, the tariff plans are very competitive and affordable.
    I subscribe to the Unlimited plan @ Rs.505 (Incl of all taxes) and I get a speed of 92 KBPS.
    There are no major Downtimes, and the uptime is almost 99%.
    On the Limited plan side, they have an amazing offer of 1 Gb download plan for Rs.250 per month @ speed of 2 MBPS, which in actual downloads, gives speed upto 248 KBPS, i.e. when i download a file from the internet, i get a actual download speed of 248 KBPS.
    I have downloaded 1 MB file in 10 seconds.
    For more details, interested ppl shud visit http://www.youtele.com and I think, this is 1 decision, u will never regret in your LIFE.
