Blog updated to WordPress 1.5

Updated my blog to WordPress 1.5. The new release has lots more than the last version.

Currently it is running the default Kubrick theme, which I don’t find too bad. Not too many new templates available right now for this version of WP, so I will wait till I decide to change the theme later.

One feature I like is the new anti-spam features. There is an option to prevent open-proxies from posting. You can tag pending comments as spam, so I assume there is an internal blacklist.

I have disabled all my previous plugins, till I find replacements for 1.5.

So far so good. Ah yes, setting up the Feedburner redirects took some time. The new .htaccess is hideously long.

Hi Sandeep, I have been lurking around your blog for a while and find it interesting. I was actually hooked by your Kolagroup, since I find such communities who maintain their identity and relations stimulating.

Anyway, I just wanted to ask why you changed from Typo3? Since I have also been contemplating using one of Typo3 / Drupal / WordPress for my ‘soon to be launched’ site.

Hi Gaurav, I dont think I ever used typo3 on my personal site! I used to use Drupal, but now I use WordPress exclusively for blogging, and drupal for storing miscellaneous information. Why I use WordPress, is because I prefer using a specialized tool for a job (What can I say, I come from the *nix world).

My official site (http://www.puroga.com) is in Typo3, by the way. Even though I am contemplating switching over to perhaps Drupal. Typo3 is great for having a load of static pages, but adding extensions or even modifying the theme expects you to learn its very extra-ordinary and extensive typoscript language. For somebody who is into a lot of different software packages, it is very difficult to keep all in your head. :) At least, in Drupal and Mambo you write in PHP mostly. :-P
